I really don’t know why
The darkness calls my name,
A whisper in the silent hours
That asks if I’m to blame.

I could end it in a heartbeat,
Let the world just fade to night,
But something in me trembles,
A spark that still wants to fight.

It’s not the fear of dying,
But the echoes left behind
Would my leaving carve a wound
Across the ones I hold in mind?

So I dream of dying splendidly,
Where my fall becomes my stand
Going out with thunder in my voice,
A weapon in my hand.

A blaze of final courage
In a life I can’t let go…
If valour is the way I die,
I grab my sword and forth i shall go.

People judge what they don’t carry,
And shadows grow from shame,
But sorrow is a battlefield
And every breath’s a flame.

I imagine charging forward
Through the terror and the pain
For if I choose my final moment,
Then I choose to rise again.

More battles come each morning,
More storms I have to face
But heroes aren’t the ones who fall,
They’re the ones who keep their place.

So I dream of dying splendidly,
In a legend yet untold
All guns blazing in the darkness,
Heart unbroken, spirit bold.

But the truth behind the fantasy
Is something deeper I now know
If valor is the way I’d die,
Then living’s how I grow.

One must choose the moment though…
Where bravery becomes our breath.
And maybe the greatest valor left
Is turning back from death.

So I rise instead of falling,
Let the fire guide me through 
The warrior I dreamed of dying as
Is the one who lives renewed.

No more longing for the ending,
No more waiting for the blow
If dying splendidly was glory…
Then living is my oath.

I wait,
I rise,
I stay,

And let my courage grow.
