‘Deep Rest’ is the second single from the soon to be released debut record “Moments In Ruin” by Meanjin (Brisbane) band Ancient Channels. ‘Deep Rest’ is a dejected disco track with a post-punk edge. A driving beat, both danceable and ornamental, bound to a steady, directive bass line that steers the song towards a hook-abounding chorus of convergent guitars, warbly synths and sweet vocal harmonies.

The song explores themes of world weariness, a strong juxtaposition to the upbeat energy of the instrumentation.

"Behind Bar // Sword" were recorded during the Mirror LP sessions with Jack Shirley at the Atomic Garden in 2016.

Ancient Channels is a sonic expedition through the imagined past, present and future. The Meanjin (Brisbane) based post-punk band consists of Kelly Hanlon playing multiple instruments (Deafcult/Terra Pines) and Chris Preindl (Apparitions/Leavings/Vestiges) performing the drums and percussion which forms the heartbeat of the band’s sound. Ancient Channels draw from a myriad of influences including post-punk, dream pop, shoegaze and the sci-fi soundtracks of early film and television.
