Deep. Dark. Horror. Insane. Minimal. Techno. These are the words, which ones maybe describe Mordred’s Music. Nevertheless these are only "cataphasia", which tries to classify his musical taste into genres. Sic these cannot totally describe the true nature of his sound, the story each of his track, his unique perspective of "so-called" dark / minimal genre, or the true meaning behind all of his tracks. Every track has its own mood, sometimes deep, thinking, philosophic, in rare occasion oppressive or frightening stories, and on the other hand the dancefloor-orientated, insane dark, moody, scary, rhythmic tracks which are supposed to madden the listeners. These are not made for any Music analysts, does not follow any rules or specific common build-up schemas - leastways not consciously. Mordred only tries to make soundwaves of his soul. Or at least what his soul emits. Or what he thinks emits. People can ask where all of this immense darkness comes from, sith he is not depressive or self-destructive at all. There are only shots in the dark. Born like that, or the spiritful experiences made him so. None can tell. Only one thing is certain: Mordred’s musical taste is not likely to change in the near future, and he continues to make releases on labels like Divided, Mandms, Black Vault Recordings, etc..., tries to adapt to new technologies, always learns, and never sees back. Be yourself, find your path, and do not lick any tempting knife...

A loyal descendant from London’s ‘underground’ music dynasty of yesteryear, Neil Catlin has patiently and diligently cultivated his own unique sound, emerging as an exceptionally talented and endearing prospect, both in the studio and behind the turntables.

Responsible for several outstanding debut releases in 2013, Neil Catlin’s gradual rise to notoriety amongst his industry peers, is testament to his devoted application in the studio, where he has honed his ability to curate a groovy, minimalistic and driving techno sound that’s infused with a subtle darkness, and is assured to make any dance floor swell from front to back.

With his current ‘Boys & Girls’ E.P. released on ‘Second Step Records’ hitting #3 on Beatport’s Top 100 Minimal Chart, and equally strong debut releases on Woo.ble Recordings, Low to High Records and Tokyo Records, its unsurprising that Neil has been attracting attention from some of his most inspirational musical deities.

From Italian techno pioneer ‘Marco Carola’ to Fuse’s ‘Ittesu’ and French duo ‘Medeew & ChicksLuvUs’, these are just a few of an ever-growing collective of music aficionados, who truly understand and appreciate the intricacies and intelligence of his productions.

Neil’s accolades as an all-round accomplished artist don’t just end in the studio. Since his inception as an aspiring DJ on London’s underground party circuit over 7 years ago, Neil has assumed an impressive array of headline acts to which he's supported. Artists such as; Maya Jane Coles, Tim Paris, Christian Burkhardt, Justin Martin, Larse, Gaiser, Andrew Grant, System of Survival, Jozif, Audiojack, East End Dubs, Inxec, Adam Shelton and Umek, to name but a few, have all been billed alongside this candid techno virtuoso.

And so as 2013 draws to a gradual close and 2014 appears on the distant horizon, and with some really exciting productions and projects in the pipeline, it is unassuming to suggest that the next 12 months and beyond for Neil Catlin will indeed prove to be his very best yet.

Mordred - Prison Of Waves (In Progress)

It's 8am. Black Rock Desert. The previous evening had been electric. It began with a demented set of pure excess on the aptly named Purgatory Cruiser with it's Exocet flame guns and rocket-powered propane ... and then moved onto an epic, spiritual sunrise set on the Robot Heart ...

... and it ended up at the fabulous Nutz camp, surrounded by gorgeous Playa-friends, getting lowdown &amp; dirty until around 11.30am. By the time I'd finished, I'd clocked up over 8-hours of DJaying that evening / morning and could have happily played for another 8 (I was due on again at 6pm, but that's another story!).
So this is my set live, direct and raw, as it happened. Not my typical fayre perhaps, but none of my Burning Man sets are ever 'typical', and this perhaps gives you a different angle on my musical tastes.
