Legend of Lumut Lunting
At the dawn of the kingdom of Brunei, when the forest spirits still spoke to men and the seas responded to the songs of the wise, there lived a princess of luminous beauty and indomitable heart: Princess Puteri Selindang Bulan, daughter of the sky and guardian of the east winds.
Two warriors of celestial lineage fell in love with her: Awang Semaun, lord of the mountains, and Awang Alak Betatar, son of the river and heir of the tides. Both were brave, wise, and powerful, but as different as fire and water. The princess, torn between their destinies, asked the kingdom's oracle to reveal who should be her consort.
The oracle, enveloped in sandalwood smoke, pronounced a prophecy:
"He who conquers without destroying will be worthy of the heart of the moon."
But the warriors, blinded by desire and pride, did not listen. On the summit of Mount Kinabalu, under a total eclipse, they clashed in a battle that shook the earth and split the sky.
The gods, enraged by the arrogance of men, intervened. With a gesture, they transformed the warriors into islands:
Awang Semaun became Pulau Pilong-Pilongan, an elongated, rocky island.
• Awang Alak Betatar became Lumut Lunting, a small, solitary, moss-covered island.
The princess, seeing the fate of her suitors, wept until her tears formed a sacred lake. Since then, it is said that the two islands watch over the kingdom, eternally separated but united by unfulfilled love.
According to legend, when Lumut Lunting disappears beneath the waters, it is a sign that a great tragedy is imminent: wars, epidemics, or the fall of a monarch. For this reason, the kingdom's fishermen and wise men observe its silhouette every dawn, as if the fate of Brunei depended on its presence.

The Physics House Band are Sam Organ (guitar/keys), Adam Hutchison (bass/keys), Dave Morgan (drums) and Miles Spilsbury (saxophone/keys). The four create avant-garde compositions that capture everything from jazz to prog to psych to doom-metal, all combined together with a furious energy transcending to their mind-bending live shows. Their recently completed third record explores further into the expanses of intense darkness and light. Soft ambient synths explode into chaotic battles between angular guitars and saxophones. The gentle moments are softer, the intense moments more visceral than ever. This is a band that has to be experienced live.

The bulk of this record was written over a two week period in a secluded farmhouse turned studio on Start Point, a Devonshire headland located between the English channel and the Celtic Sea. Ideas were stripped back and rebuilt relentlessly over the fortnight until pieces emerged, becoming more chaotic and dense as the cabin fever drew ever closer. This record is a reflection of that time – the madness that comes from such an insular experience, but also the peace and gentleness of being removed from the constant overstimulation of the city. 

The Physics House Band have toured performed notable shows with supported the likes of Alt-J, Omar Rorriguez-Lopez, Django Django, Tera Melos, LITE, Jaga Jazzist and gained major support from BBC Radio 6 Music, NPR, Anthony Fantano / The Needle Drop, The Guardian, The Independent, The Quietus + more
