Crave You

I wrote this song from the perspective of one of those heroic astronauts, on the launch pad, reflecting on how we got there, and what they'll be returning to if they are fortunate enough to make it back.   Its a nice song and lyric, maybe I'll finish it before we visit again.

The Race

in 1981 Miles Davis returned with his first recording and tour in 7 years with a remarkable fusion band with Marcus Miller on Bass, John Scofield and Barry Finnerty on Guitars, Bill Evans on Sax and   Al Foster on Drums.  For me, the classic jam on this Man with the Horn album was Fat Time, a funk tune where Marcus laid down the fattest bass groove and then Mike Stern just went wild with an exceptional screaming solo over the top.  This tune and much of the album was panned by jazz purists, but was an important step forward introducing these musicians to Miles' followers, and continuing to combine influences of jazz, funk, rock and fusion.   For this simple tune I have copied Marcus' classic bass line and used a synth solo to mimic a bit of the phrasing and notes selection that Mike Stern used with his wonderful guitar playing.

Ronny's playing and creativity is world class, and he makes this heavy modal fusion original come to life with his listening, note selection and phrasing, interaction with my synth lines, and finally his engineering abilities.  My deepest appreciation goes out to him for jumping in to help us climb the Purple Mountain together.   

This photo is of the stunning Norwegian fjords, a magical place that I am looking forward to exploring someday.

Gotta love the open invitation from Scotland's finest SC guitarist, fuzzmaster and executive chef Ian Tait https://soundcloud.com/ian-tait to join him on this heavy funk rocker.  Ian's signature funky sound and outstanding Wah playing were just what the doctor ordered for me, so I jumped in with some heavy synth guitar patch to try and match Ian's electricity on my keyboard.  On this track I take the first and third solos.  Damn this was fun Ian!!!  You are back with a vengeance.
