Anders Ilar - See You When I Get There

Despite all the collaborations on last year’s Amygdala by Pampa cult leader DJ Koze, there was still one recurring comment from the public: The album still had DJ Koze’s trademark stamp all over it. That is why have been taking the proper steps to rectify this problem, offering a remix series, to further disassociate DJ Koze from this otherwise respectable assortment of songs. Here is the second installment.

First up is Roman Flügel, co-founder of the legendary label powerhouse Ongaku/Klang/Playhouse, not to mention his more recent releases on Clone and Live At Robert Johnson. We have no idea what kind of app he used, but somehow he transformed the title track “Amygdala” from a laid-back, wind-chiming electro-pop number into a clock-working tech-house fairy tale. Roman wisely and tastefully retains the original guest spot from Milosh (of the duo Rhye), offering a grittier backdrop for his lulling vocal delivery.

Next comes Robag Whrume, who is no stranger to any Pampa fan, having released an album and a mix CD with us, aside from his countless other works. Here he has taken the pleasant puffiness of DJ Koze’s “Nices Wölkchen” and incubated it in a deep house cocoon. The witch-shifted voice of guest singer Apparat is given a new life, hovering amidst a mesmerizing mechanical groove. As always, there’s nothing formulaic about Robag’s formula as he serves up little moments of magic.

Like a cluster of exotic birds, anthology of short stories or secret case of sparkling gemstones, Collections 01 further explores the world expressed in Teebs' previous album Ardour from several new perspectives.

While drawing from the universe of Ardour, Collections 01 is more varied with more samples, each song containing specific elements that give it a unique character. Featuring tracks with harpist Rebekah Raff and Brainfeeder cohort Austin Peralta, Collections 01 offers a range of sentiment, always elegantly displayed. From hypnotic, dust-covered beats and languid daydreams to cascading shuffles and bright bursts of color, this beautiful collection is a further glimpse into the world behind the mind's eye of Teebs, painter of sound.

"With this record I'm trying to imagine a side project or group of mine that just so happened to make the same exact music as I'm making now. These records are neither EPs or full albums. Just mini collections of ideas...I hope to release them randomly through my life as if they were paintings in a drawn out series. The vibe I want people to be sent off with is a feeling of going out and buying some kind of rare library record they always wanted and not a "new album/EP." This will be the first Collections."

Switzerland’s Mina Records returns with a brand new single from label boss Masaya featuring two news cuts of emotive House music backed with remixes from Mihai Popoviciu and 
Anders Ilar…

Claudia Ayala AKA Masaya has been a respected member of House music’s inner sanctum since the release of her collaborative single with Ripperton on the Num Records label back in 2006. Since then she has gone on to release through labels such as Perspectiv and Meerestief and has launched her own Mina Records imprint, a label that has boasted music from the likes of Clara Moto, Pawas and Nhar as well as Ayala herself.Now Masaya is ready for the release of her brand new single, the 11th
release on the Mina label, entitled the ‘Rosas EP’. 

The EP kicks off with the original version of ‘Ganas’, a soothing and rolling slice of offbeat, bass driven House music that features subtle vocal parts, understated melodies and an incessant bouncing vibe, quality stuff. The original version is accompanied by a remix from Romanian producer Mihai Popoviciu who strips things back and delivers a techy and hypnotic mix that provides a solid alternative.

The B side opens with the ‘dub version’ of ‘Get You’ a deep and heady piece of melodic techno that marries gentle emotive elements with a rock solid bass driven groove and Ayala’s haunting vocals. Once again the original is backed with a remix, this time provided by the prolific Swedish producer Andes Ilar who turns in and intense and atmospheric mix that journeys into gothic house territory, sublime.

Mina Records has delivered another sterling release from label boss Masaya, enjoy!
