EX by Plastikman 

Plastikman, aka @RichieHawtin, recorded EX at the Guggenheim, New York’s iconic art museum. This very special performance was at the invitation of influential Belgium fashion designer and artistic director at Dior, Raf Simons, for the Guggenheim’s annual fundraiser, performed around a specially constructed LED obelisk.

Richie Hawtin explains, “I knew that Raf was a long time Plastikman fan so by accepting his offer to perform at the Dior event at the Guggenheim I knew I’d set myself up to a huge challenge. Although Raf was happy to have the already complete Plastikman Live 1.5 show, I locked myself away in a series of intense studio sessions and quickly recorded enough new material for the performance and realized I might also have enough for a complete new album. The music came out of me effortlessly as I was very inspired by the opportunity to play in this beautiful architectural space renowned more for art than music. The location also allowed me to step far away from the dancefloor, giving me a huge amount of freedom to EXplore any sonic ideas that I had. Art, music, architecture, painting, sculpture – these mediums are supposed to live together.”

Referencing one of the great fights of Greek mythology, Dave Angel’s two new titanic Techno tracks for John Digweed’s Bedrock duel for dominance, in what is undoubtedly a supreme return to the label from the Godfather of the UK’s Techno scene. Set for release in the time whilst Scorpio is the current and reputedly the most powerful sign of the zodiac, it looks like the stars are aligned to perfection.

“Scorpion” has already featured exclusively in Eats Everything’s BBCR1 Essential Mix, recorded live at T In The Park, and is set to fly. Built around a sophisticated, multi-layered, hip-swinging groove, its ever-evolving, hypnotic, melodic bounce builds magically through a series of stunning breakdown crescendos into a totally mesmerising and unforgettable masterpiece.

The subtly powerful “Orion” takes a deeper, but no less impressive melodic route to total groove engagement. Interspersing proceedings with teasing vocal snippets and subtle euphoric synth swells proves to be another a winning formula. Both tracks demonstrate exactly why Dave remains such a driving force today, having evolved and matured stylistically over the years, since his early heart-stopping techno outings more than 2 decades ago now.

The son of a jazz musician, Dave Angel’s first musical instrument (appropriately) was a drum at age of eight, so it’s no surprise that he developed an ear for a good groove. Since entering the consciousness of the techno community in 1990, he has pretty much remained there ever since. Although he’s London born and bred, he has been making records like he's from Detroit with a distinctive twist of funk and jazz for years. Dave Angel is one of the scene’s true characters, giving off an aura of positivity like no other, a kind of warmth that you cannot fail to feel through his exceptional, uplifting music. Involved in the industry since the late 80's, the Minas Gerais native is one of the most responsible for shaping and growing the country's electronic music, earning the respect of many national and international names, including the recognition of the legend Carl Cox. Noise has performed in more than 30 countries around the world, taking his extreme skill and sensitivity with him into the construction of his sets, as well as helping put Brazil on the Techno world map.

As an artist with a career spanning over 30 years and an extensive catalog of releases by several labels, reaching stratospheric numbers, and of course, also on his own label, Noise Music, the first Brazilian Techno label, which turned 23 years old in April 2022.

Noise has developed major collaborations with João Carlos Martins, Milton Nascimento, Daniela Mercury, Lulu Santos and many others, in addition to maintaining the Nie Myer project with band members Skank, Henrique Portugal and Lelo Zanetti.

In his entire career he has received dozens of awards, has been elected the best DJ for two consecutive years by DJ Mag Brasil, and for three years his name was included in the Top 100 list of DJ Mag UK, reaching the position of number 26 in the world in 2008.

Noise has been a producer for memorable parties throughout the 90s and during the 2000s, in unusual places in Belo Horizonte. He is also responsible for creating the first online electronic music radio station in Brazil, Radio Noise.

With an energy rare to be found, common only among the most talented artists, Anderson Noise, is that type of professional who looks at difficulties with responsibility, but doesn't feel intimidated.
