Relaxing Deep House Mix 2022 | Best Of | Kygo, Disciples, Jonas Blue, Regard, Don Diablo

A return to metal after the more shoegaze influenced Somniferum.

This track was initially much darker lyrically. But I found that I just couldn't continue writing such depressing lyrics. So it became more positive, rather than being a song entirely about darkness and struggle; it became one more about resiliance and strength. It became especially about the role my religion plays in my life.

I am also really happy with how the production turned out on this. I learnt a lot while making Somniferum and I hope it reflects in the song. Let me know what you think of the mixing and mastering.

As a general update, I actually still am working on that album I started back when Wither... dropped at the start of the year. I'd hoped to have had it done by now but my poor physical health over the last few months has made it incredibly difficult to maintain any sort of consistant working schedule. I've also decided to take a couple of weeks off from making music. In the last few months, I've released a mixtape and several singles, all entirely written, recorded and produced by me. While I absolutely love doing this, I think I need a short break mainly for my physical health. When I start back up, I'll be working on that album. Thank you for being patient. If you have any complaints, write a detailed letter adressed to the entire species of staphylococcus aureus, the world's supply seems to be currently concentrated in my lungs.

Jeán et Joie is the lyrical child of artist and songwriter, Grey Jeán. Their music can be described as mournful folk with a hopeful glow. Their songs combine simple instrumentals and poetic, stream-of-consciousness style storytelling. Common themes can be found throughout each piece of music: celestial realities and the natural world, lived experience and a strong sense of emotional integrity.
Grey Jeán grew in a household surrounded by music. Their three sisters shared their immense talents through angelic harmonies and polyphonic hymns drawn from the Catholic faith in which they were raised. Grey began using their voice to express and to write their own music while navigating a challenging teenage experience living at home in Mountain Home, Arkansas. They carried the power of song forward into every chapter, first in choirs, then open mic nights, and later into live performances and virtual concerts during the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2021, Grey played and wrote piano pieces for the San Diego punk blues band, Teeming Dreams, and in 2022 formed Jeán et Joie as a début of their growing personal repertoire. The band has been playing and recording together since Grey and their fiancé Gabrielle Néla teamed up with the drummer, guitar duo Ikaika and Dash from the LA band, Flamango Bay. They have since moved to North Carolina and are building a presence back in the forests and woods where Grey first discovered their musical identity.
Their upcoming EP Bramble is set to release in beginning of 2024, preceded by singles: Glory Be and Fried Rice.
