Aad Guray Nameh – Protective Mantra Invoking The Light Of The Universe

Aad Guray Nameh is the Mangala Charn mantra and is recited for protection. The mantra surrounds the practitioner with a magnetic field with protective light.

This protection mantra can be practiced anyplace, anytime, whenever there is a need for protection. Furthermore, it doesn’t matter what posture you are in.

The mantra is in Gurmukhi script, primarily used in Kundalini mantras, and it is from Sukhmani Sahib, a set of hymns divided into 24 sections which appear in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The chant is composed by Guru Arjun Dev Ji, the 5th Guru of the Sikhs.

Many individuals recite this Kundalini mantra when they need extra protection. It is part of the “triple mantra” and is usually recited before driving a car to create a protective energy around those in the car.

Aad Guray Nameh mantra complete lyrics:
”Aad Guray Nameh,
Jugaad Guray Nameh,
Sat Guray Nameh,
Siri Guroo Dayvay Nameh.”

Kundalini mantra translation in English:
”I bow to the Primal Source of Creation,
I bow to the Wisdom through the Ages,
I bow to the True Source of Creation, the true identity of self,
I bow to the great, unseen Wisdom.”


Mantra chanting benefits:
The healing frequency of this Kundalini mantra draws to you whatever you are vibrating. We start to identify with the timelessness of the soul and consequently begin to shed neurotic habits that no longer serve and that no longer seem relevant.

The mantra opens our perception of ourselves as undifferentiated from God. In addition, chanting this mantra awakens the divine light and love within us. Proper pronunciation of the protection mantra helps to stimulate different points of the body with the tongue and upper palate of the mouth.

The creation reflects back to us what we vibrate out. So what we vibrate or project out is what we will draw back to us. If we vibrate and tune into a frequency of abundance and healing, then that is the healing vibration we will fill ourselves with and then project out.

When our spiritual identity is awakened, we experience the unity of all life, which consequently awakens our hearts and opens our capacity for compassion, whereupon we may live out our material lives free of envy, animosity, and pride.

Yogi Bhajan received this Kundalini mantra directly from Guru Ram Das in a lucid dream.

This mantra also gives the quality of selfless service and is praising Guru Ram Das, the protector of Yoga teachers and the Lord of Miracles.

He was the 4th of the Ten Gurus of Sikhism and was given the title of Sikh Guru on 30th of August 1574. He embodied grace, humility, service, and profound devotion.

Guru Ram Das mantra is a prayer of the Anahata (heart) chakra (4th chakra). Anahata chakra is the energetic center of your deep bonds with other beings, your feelings of self-love, your sense of caring and compassion, kindness, altruism, generosity, and respect.

Mantra meaning on syllables:
Guru represents the teacher or spiritual guide that brings one from the darkness to the light.

Ram Das literally translates as “God’s Servant.”
The 1st part the mantra projects the mind to the source of ecstasy and knowledge. The 2nd part of this powerful mantra represents the wisdom and knowledge that comes as a servant of the Infinite.

Reciting this mantra 108 times/day with a sincere heart gently opens the heart center and allows us to experience the sublime state of forgives for ourselves, and others.
