For Episode 510 of the Next Best Picture Podcast, I am joined by Ema Sasic, Giovanni Lago, Nadia Dalimonte, Sara Clements, and Tom O'Brien. This week, we're discussing the continuation of the New York Film Festival (NYFF), including the world premieres of "Behemoth!" and "A Statement," as well as high-profile screenings for "You Can See Everything," "All Of A Sudden," "Club Kid," "Tender Loving Care," and more! For this week's NBP poll question, for the merger of Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures into Skydance, we're asking everyone, "Which Is Your Favorite Warner Bros. Best Picture Nominee?" And we reveal the winner of last week's NBP poll, where we asked everyone for the release of "Digger," "Which is Your Favorite Alejandro González Iñárritu Film?" We also share our reactions to the trailers for "Elsinore," "La Bola Negra," "Rose," and "Clarissa." We are still answering your fan-submitted questions, but we'll now release our answers separately the next day in a new show called Mailbag Monday. So stay tuned for that and many other updates from Next Best Picture as this year's awards season continues. Thank you all for listening, subscribing, and supporting us. Enjoy!

Episode 510 - Mailbag Monday

Tracks with descriptions tend to get more plays and engagements.

get there already

“Pick Up the Phone” is a warm, easy rolling Americana track built on bright acoustic guitars, a steady train groove drum pattern. The song blends heartland rock with roots pop sensibilities, delivering a laid back, highway driving feel. Vocals carry a nostalgic, hopeful tone, supported by stacked harmonies that lift each chorus. The production leans into vintage warmth — tape style saturation, plate reverb, and a relaxed rhythm section — creating a timeless, road movie atmosphere. Lyrically, it’s a story of distance, longing, and connection, inviting the listener into a familiar emotional landscape where a single phone call could change everything. Perfect for fans of retro acoustic rock, harmony driven songwriting, and classic Americana storytelling.

Good Day!

TELL ME HOW YOU FEEL

[Verse 1]
You came home late on Tuesday,
Set your keys beside the door.
I asked you how your day went,
You said, “Same as before.”
We ate supper in the kitchen,
With the TV down the hall.
You kept looking out the window,
I kept saying nothing at all.
[Pre-Chorus]
When you reached to clear the table,
I laid my hand beside your plate.
Said, “Honey, leave those dishes—
There’s something that can’t wait.”
[Chorus]
Tell me how you feel,
Even if the words come hard.
If I’ve left you feeling lonely,
Let me hear that broken part.
You don’t have to make it easy,
You don’t have to hold it in.
I’d rather hear what hurts tonight
Than lose you wondering.
Baby, I’m right here—
Tell me how you feel.
[Verse 2]
You said, “I miss those Sunday drives
We used to take for fun.
Now you’re always fixing something,
And there’s always work undone.
You ask me if I need a thing,
And I know you mean it well.
But sometimes all I need is you
Without asking for your help.”
[Pre-Chorus]
I started saying, “I’ve been busy,”
Then I stopped before the rest.
Pulled my chair a little closer
And let you get it off your chest.
[Chorus]
Tell me how you feel,
Even if the words come hard.
If I’ve left you feeling lonely,
Let me hear that broken part.
You don’t have to make it easy,
You don’t have to hold it in.
I’d rather hear what hurts tonight
Than lose you wondering.
Baby, I’m right here—
Tell me how you feel.
[Bridge]
I can’t mend a hundred evenings
With a promise and a kiss.
But I can turn my phone off
And sit with you like this.
If you need a little time, love,
I can give you room to breathe.
You’ve been reaching out so long—
Now it’s my turn to reach.
[Final Chorus]
Tell me how you feel,
There’s no hurry finding words.
I’ll stay here at this table
Till you know that you’ve been heard.
Tell me what you’ve been missing,
Tell me where we ought to start.
I still want those Sunday mornings,
Still want your hand inside my arm.
Baby, I’m right here—
Tell me how you feel.
[Outro]
We left the dishes till the morning,
Watched the porch light through the screen.
You leaned your head against my shoulder,
Said, “This is what I mean.”

Interview With "My Undesirable Friends: Part II - Exile" Filmmaker Julia Loktev

A podcast by NextBestPicture.com that reviews the latest film releases and discusses various topics within the world of film and the awards race.

Daniël Majoor has been involved with electronic music since childhood.

Daniël doesn't see himself as a musician, but rather as someone who "paints" with sound. Just as a painter mixes his colours, Daniel continually experiments with new sounds until he has found the right atmosphere. His music is in no way generated or composed by AI. Daniël does use certain AI "tools" for mastering and vocals. But for him the human factor is never allowed to take a back seat to technology.

Creation is the highest goal!

Daniël has no desire to promote himself through an organization or agency to gain more listeners or fans. Also, impersonal, business offers or promotions will not be accepted through this platform. If you send a message with this intention, you'll go straight into the archives, and you will be reported as a spammer.
