The Glitz - No Drama (Album 2015)

After more than eight years the moment has finally arrived. The guys behind ”The Glitz”, Daniel Nitsch and Andreas Henneberg, are releasing their first album together on their label ”Voltage Musique Records”. With 14 Tracks in total, the result of the last two years of common studio work can be heard.

For 13 years the two musicians living in Rostock and Berlin are running the label ”Voltage Musique Records” together with Markus Hille, as well as traveling around the world with their solo projects. Due to the spacial distance between them, their time in the studio is very limited, which is a constant challenge to their productions. However, this is still considered to be ”no drama” for the boys, rather they profit from the distance through always meeting up with lots of new ideas and creativity.

In other words, ”No Drama” can be seen as their attitude towards life. A north-German laid-backness meets the rascally Berlin cheeriness. And naturally, life is easier when you treat each other well. This plays an important part in a friendship of two guys with such different characters.

The different influences as well as Andreas’ and Daniels’ musically diverse background are probably the most important bricks in the foundation of a very independent sound on the album. Without loosing the red thread you can find clear traces of Downbeat, Triphop, Jazz and funk next to the very club friendly tracks.

Singer and electronica songwriter ”i Am Halo” from the USA, joined in on two of the tracks. Also, the vocalist from ”Parasite Single” made another guest contribution with her wonderful charismatic voice, that weaves its way into your ear alongside a groaning bassline in the song “Sugar to the milk”.. Through their skills, the German rock singer and close friend ”Stefan Krogmann”, as well as the international active pianist “Johann Blanchard” completed two further, surprisingly different sounding tracks.

If you already know a “The Glitz” DJ-set you might recognize some of the songs. After all, over the last months a lot of them have been extensively tested in the clubs, and also continuously refined.

“No Drama” – a thoroughly club suitable album, that also can be excellently listened to while enjoying a cup of tea with a lacing in your grandparents living room.

These are the tracks that defined our Burning Man – a wider palette of sounds than you may have heard from us in the past. We wanted to offer a platform to a variety of promising newcomers.

These are the tracks we’ve been supporting all year. All of them have been amplifying dance floors & deserts in their own unique way. Sounds from The Netherlands, Berlin, Austria, Athens, Mexico City, Dubai, Cape Town, Paris, New York and Copenhagen. Friends we’ve met on our travels, and invited into our family. As the year draws to a close TAU unveils its latest release, with German duo The Cheapers handling business this time around. On this two-tracker we also get a rework from highly respected producer Dave DK, best known for his releases on labels such as Pampa and Kompakt.

The EP starts off with the title track, ‘Poem’. Throbbing bass frequencies intertwine with a sonar-esque fm-bell to establish a serious, purposeful mood. A chilling, detuned vocal sings in Spanish intermittently as The Cheapers tease in a variety of unsettling effects. This unusual, yet stirring cut epitomises the TAU sound, emotive, deep, dark and moving.

Next up is ‘M10’, a stoney-faced rumbler with more strange atmospherics and eccentric production. This is the sound of two experienced producers enjoying themselves and flexing their musical muscles. Relatively simple in its architecture, ‘M10’ shifts and evolves steadily, the energy building in subtle waves keeping you engrossed from start to finish.

Dave DK steps up to remix ‘M10’, giving it more bounce and an assertive rhythm. The pace is quickened, though the morose mood remains. Dave’s ability to cultivate solid dancefloor movers is clear here as he demonstrates his knowledge and experience with an uptempo reinterpretation.

Andreas Henneberg has made a name for himself as a DJ, label manager and producer of great repute, with a sonic fingerprint that is easily recognisable yet hard to define. Since starting out in the 90s, he has put his name to over 140 releases that operate somewhere between Techno, House and Minimal and always explore unfamiliar sounds in unique new ways.

As well as being the founder of his own label Voltage Musique (with friends Daniel Nitsch, Marquez Ill and Stefan Schuldt) which turns ten years old this year, Henneberg has also made himself at home on influential imprints like Ideal Audio, Confused Recordings, Herzblut and AREAL and is a key part of the Plantage13 family. He doesn’t only produce under his given name, though, but also explores a number of other styles of music as The Glitz (with close friend Mr. Daniel Nitsch), Cascandy and Hennon. Whatever he puts his name to, though, you can be assured that it comes from a place of deep understanding and appreciation that too few producers have in the modern age.

Given the amount of music Andreas has produced over the years, it’s no surprise he is also an in demand ghost-writer for many established artists, helping them to realise their ideas and putting to good use his year’s of priceless studio know how.

As well as all this, the Berliner is also a respected mastering-engineer and DJs on a regular basis at clubs all over the world, spinning knowing blends of House and Techno that not only make you dance, but also make you think. It all started for him at seminal clubs like Tresor and at the very first Berghain/Panoramabar, so his sense of history and class as a DJ is unri- valled, with his sets never failing to leave lasting marks on those that hear them.
