Beyond the Horizon

My homage to silent horror movies like "Nosferatu", "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" or "The Golem". Think of a someone, who is lost - like Mary Henry/Candance Hilligoss in "Carnival of Souls." Dramatic music, dramatic gestures, close-ups, black & white in sharp contrast and a lot of shadows.

Dark Times

Intro music written for "The Elves" audio books. This is the "unplugged" version of the more epic main titles. The fantasy series is written by the German author Bernhard Hennen, who is best known internationally for his series Die Elfen ("The Elves", since 2004), which has been translated into a number of European languages. Hennen who also wrote for the role-playing game "The Dark Eye".

The Elves - Main Titles (unplugged)

Musical theme written for Georg Rudolf Speyer, a fictional character, who accompanied Spanish conquistadores on their voyage to South America, in the year 1530. Speyer is not an ordinary man. He is the son of the devil, but he fights Satan and his minions. 
This track is monotonous and repetitive by choice - it shouldn't attract too much attention cause it was written to serve as an underscore for various monologue scenes, spoken by Speyer. 
Also, the overall atmosphere is heavy and dark, reflecting on a burden Speyer has to carry. A burden, that has not been resolved.

Excerpt from the original booklet about choice of instruments: 

"Für Speyer und vor allem für die spanischen Konquistadoren wählte ich andere Instrumente, aber nicht nur, um den Kontrast der Kulturen zu verdeutlichen. Eine spanische Barrockgitarre bot sich zunächst als Lead-Instrument an. Dazu aber kamen Schnarrtrommeln, die immer einen militärischen Marschrhythmus spielen (um den Aspekt der Invasion darzustellen) und Mönchschöre. Die Mönchschöre sind verdreht, repetetiv, um - wie ich hoffte - eine Atmosphäre "wahnsinniger Heiligkeit"  zu schaffen: als Spiegel des verdrehten Glaubens, mit denen die Konquistadoren ihr grausames Handeln moralisch zu rechtfertigen suchten."

The Cross Code

Main Title for "Dorian Hunter", a horror/mystery series. This theme replaced the former one  written by German musician and actor Joachim Witt. 
Joachim Witt became a major star of the German pop scene during the 1980s with huge hits such as "Goldener Reiter". He was one of the biggest names of the "Neue Deutsche Welle" (New German Wave), of which performers like Nena and Falco were also a part. 
When I was a teenager, Witt's music had a huge influence on me - especially "Der Goldene Reiter", which was my favourite dance song during the early 80s.

Dorian Hunter - Main Theme

Andreas Meyer is an award-winning composer from Damme, Germany. He has written music for video games, film, radio drama and other media.
