Icarus

A song about soul Re-fragmentation. A song about strength. A song about an expression and embracement of the divinity of blackness. I wrote and produced this song while out here in D.R this week. I took sounds straight from the land here mixed wit sambles from the tribes of Yoruba, and Zulu and afro percusión. Where my roots reside :) I’m here on indigenous land learning to trust divine guidance DAILY. Learning to trust what i cannot see. Learning where i come from to know where i can go. This year has been a reflection of looking within and connecting with my ancestors and my higher self. Releasing the fear of self. I noticed how much fear has affected my reality growing up. Fear of the unknown fear of the know shit fear of fear even. I held a lot of that towards asking for guidance and at times i thought no one was listening and that i had to suffer alone. Learning to lean in and educate myself on where i come from and the beauty of what it means to be who i am and to come from such grace and divine strength and love doesn’t have space for fear. Being raised into a life of constant suppression of emotions and constructs build against the pure freedom of the soul has taught me to embrace what i have and re-define what this life can mean for me and not what others have placed in front of me. Fear is an illusion when the ego is loosing power over the spirit. I’m grateful to be on this journey of regaining my true self and inspiring others to do the same! My only intention here is that when this hits ur ears you feel it in ur body and know that u are whole wherever u are. That u are enough and that u are seen and never alone.
