Chapelle XIV Music welcomes singer, songwriter, and musician André Baum and his Beyondré moniker with Berlin Blue: a conceptually versatile follow-up LP to 2014’s Beyondré Is Born EP. The making of the Berlin Blue spans three cities, two lockdowns, and one heartbreak making this a musical endeavor that reflects a journey of growth, both in self and sound, that Baum embraced in the past years. Channelling personal experiences and years of electronic experimentation in his broad and eccentric pop-leaning productions, Baum isn’t shy to blend influences to satisfying and moving results.

Berlin Blue’s story will start with first single and video “Runaway” out on April 14th. The second single “What You Need” will drop on May 12th. The full LP comes out on vinyl & digital on June 9th. Berlin Blue is a trip through self-discovery in dark times, woven with sensitive and thought-provoking vocals and innovative songs for body and mind: a fresh take on modern electronic music from the multi-talented New Yorker. Beyondré makes his mark as a genre-blending visionary, an explorer of analog circuitry, and a complex artist yearning to seek deeper and fearless truths – not just of sound, but also humanity. This is electronic music from the heart, for the heart.

The finale of Slacker’s first transmission is the suitably triumphant yet beautifully understated ‘The Finish Line’, a collaboration between Parisian producer Cesar Merveille and NYC vocalist Baum. Lounging at the intersection between electro pop and deep house, the Cadenza-associated producer reaffirms his skill as a songwriter for the dancefloor and beyond, winding down a swinging party with playfulness and introducing Slacker’s unabashedly sensitive side.

No definitive genre will ever be nailed on such a unique and well balanced mix. It is easy to slip under, absorbing the tracks as they build towards a melodic ending, with a certain electro tip. André Baum is a writer, singer, musician, and producer from NYC. The Berlin-based artist creates at the intersection of sound, image, and word. Classically trained in piano, Baum’s early love of electronic music, hip-hop, and 2000’s New York bands helped shape his unique style. For the past 15 years of composition and performance, Baum’s multimedia practice has covered a broad spectrum of music, artwork, and film for stage, gallery, and recorded formats.
As a solo recording artist, Baum debuted as Beyondré in 2014 with an EP of alternative-electronic songs titled “Beyondré is Born.” As a conceptual sound artist, Baum crafts installations and improvised performances using voice, live electronics, and field recordings. These most notably include a series of works with iconic German artist Rebecca Horn. Frequently drawn to collaboration, Baum’s first producer credit was with Vanessa Daou’s “One Thing I’m Missing”, which he composed around Daou’s acappella vocals using sounds from an apartment in Lower East Side, NY and debuted on BBC 6. As one-half of electronic duo People People, Baum released his first 12” on Discobar in 2020. It featured a club remix by techno legend Ricardo Villalobos.
In 2021, Baum released a series of singles and music videos as an introduction to songs under his own name. He also premiered live at Berlin’s Club der Visionaere, both solo and with duo People People. In 2022, Baum continued his live streak and hosted People People Things in Berlin. So far, 2023 saw Baum release “Forgive the Night” EP with Chris Korda, debut People People live at NYC’s Resolute/Can You Jigit party, release LPs from Beyondré and People People with Yoyaku, and contribute a song for Seth Troxler’s new label Slacker 85.
