This deep, rolling liquid is rich in texture and expertly and subtly  created. A powerful combination of angular beats, snarling bass, and grime-tinged synths creates a track that is full of brooding energy.
 
The song's heart undoubtedly embodies duality; glistening synth leads evoking Blade Runner coexist with hard-edged  break chops  that masterfully combine dark and light.

Following the success of the first instalment of the Heavy Sonics Next Gen series back in December, we return with another ridiculous 4-track EP with a variety of vibes, all killer and no filler!

The "Next Gen" series is aimed at uncovering and promoting up and coming talent in the underground scene from across the globe. Vol. 2 features 6 completely new artists to Heavy Sonics and following the high bar that Vol.1 set, this tracklist does not disappoint. 

The EP kicks off with "Work" from Serbian newcomer Sneaky. With tight production and a rolling bassline, this one will get you moving and eject you into a different galaxy. In our opinion, this track would not be out of place on a compilation such as the Invisible series from the Vision Recordings camp. We're excited to see and hear more of the talented Sneaky soon.

The second track is from Heavy Sonics favourite DJ/producer, Counter Culture. The track, "Percolate", is a deep number from CC who is experimenting with the darker side of minimal drum and bass. This one fits perfectly on the B side of the release and would go off in any club on a big system. Counter Culture shows his versatility on this one, moving away from his usual silky liquid drum and bass vibes.

The next track is a collaboration between US-based Skorpion and UK-based Sceptre. "Jungle Curry" is a high-energy and frenetic track with a big bassline and punchy drums. This one will take you rolling into the weekend and is a serious weapon for any DJ to draw for. Skorpion and Sceptre are a spicy collaboration and also wicked individual artists in their own right, so go and check them out!

Last but not least on the compilation is all-round sound fanatic, Trench, featuring the mesmerising vocals of the talented Katja. Being a sound recordist and engineer, Trench has been crafting his sound over the years and we love what he is currently putting out. The track "Wanted" is a stripped-back number with funky drums and instrumental elements that add soul alongside the amazing vocals. The amount of groove on this one is 11/10 and we are really happy to close out the EP with this track.

With a bit of everything, Next Gen Vol. 2 hits all the vibes that we love, from deep and dark, to heavy and frenetic, to light and jazzy. Whether you are listening at home or loading up your USB for the club, there's something on here for you.

The Heavy Sonics "Next Gen" series is dedicated to nurturing and promoting emerging artists and this release is a must-listen for anyone looking to stay ahead of the curve in the underground drum and bass scene. Keep an eye on these rising stars; they are only just getting started!

Nestled in the shadows of South West London, the mysterious Elsewhere has teamed up with Rebel Music founder OB1 to bring you 'Checkpoint,' a five-track journey through soulful and futuristic drum & bass. Over the past year, these longtime friends have dedicated countless late-night studio sessions to creating an EP that's as much about the experience as it is about the destination.

The title track, 'Checkpoint,' kicks things off with melancholic melodies and intricate rhythms, inviting listeners into a world where reality and the unknown merge. Next up is 'I Could Never Hold Your Attention,' a tribute to the late Marcus Intalex. NKZ, name Andrey from Russia started listening to DNB in 2000 when a friend gave a CD  Dj Aphrodite, after which he fell in love with this genre. since 2004, at the age of 14, began writing music, inspired by the neurofunk sound that was on the hype at that time, such artists as Teebee, Calyx, Noisia, Spor, Phace, Misanthrop, Audio. Later, became interested in the Techno DNB of the Offkey label and the Darkside sound artists as Technical Itch, Limewax, Current Value. In 2007 stopped writing music and listening to DNB and went about his daily studies, work, and family. In 2023, returned to writing music after 15 years. Just a year late released an ep on subplate recordings.
