Inspired by raw green jasper. The idea was to represent the color, texture and symbolic meaning of this crystal through music materials, textures and timbers. For electronics, I used as a sample Youtube video of a performance of 9 Etudes-Tableaux by Rachmaninoff which I skipped on my phone by 10 seconds each time, quickly but not equally every time, while keeping the Youtube video going, without pausing. This created the interrupted effect which I edited more in Audacity after screen-recording and converting the final result to wav. I used this to represent the idea of converted physical texture of green jasper into sound. Violin (live and in the electronics) is used for pastoral effect (conflict of a steadiness of the forest and complete riot), since the green jasper symbolizes, among other things, being one with nature. Frula is used both for pastoral effect and representing the color and texture. I played frula in the electronics as well and edited it. I also used water effects (I recorded myself pouring the water in the glass) and sang shamanic-like effects to enhance the experience of being in nature.

Pyroclasm

Sorry for the jumpscare! So many familiar sound materials came up while intuitively gathering information about female nervous system... And trust me, I don't like copying myself lol. It's interesting to me how the materials in the first minute correspond to the materials I used for composition iONA inspired by female energy. This shows how my subconsciousness works - it perceives and understands similar things, therefore showing it to me by expressing similar sound materials when I use intentional-intuitive method of composing. Cool stuff.

Healing body - 2 - Healing female nervous system

This composition is autobiographical, but it also allows listeners to find themselves within it. The title itself is a play on words: Between – meaning “in between,” TWIN instead of tween, and then frames instead of flames, referring to Twin Flames. According to legends that date back to Ancient Greece, these are masculine and feminine polarities that were created together and then separated into two bodies, forever seeking one another in each lifetime - even if that means endlessly searching for each other through other partners or different life paths and aspects - until they finally reunite and become whole again.

The composition explores the eternal conflict of inner emotions in the search for true love, representing different phases in romantic relationships, and the unconscious connection between one’s approach to certain life situations and one’s perception of romantic relationships - a connection that is symbolically defined through the role of paper. The way the performer interacts with the paper (their approach to it in the composition) serves as a mirror of how one approaches the relationships - not necessarily the partners themselves, but the idea of the relationship, and at times, the relationship itself.

BeTWIN-frames (demo)

Cloudspotting for violin and piano explores an 11-chord sequence traversed cyclically 10 times, where the step increases by one with every traversal. Successive traversals of the chord sequence create a generative soundscape dominated by four note patterns in the piano, groups of long notes in the violin, and unusual harmonic shifts. Floating violin phrases have inspired the title, recalling clouds in slow motion across the sky. The work aims to find unexplored possibilities, new meaning and feeling in traditional consonant harmonies and familiar sound textures.

I have been writing this piece while re-reading Raymond Queneau’s novel Les Fleurs Bleues (Modré kvety in Slovak). This book is, among other things, about daydreaming. This piece is, among other things, about daydreaming, too.

The subject of this work is the area of sound spatialization from the point of view of sound design. I started the research on the assumption that the spaciousness of sound covers almost all media in which sound design is studied at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, such as film, television, theater, radio, music and video games. Different concepts of sound transmission (binaural, stereo and multi-channel) are used for each of these media, and the choice depends on the type of media and what emotion we want to convey to the listener.

This piece is created as a research of the subjective experience of the design sound space, which represents the memory of a safe place. We all have our own safe place where we feel protected and safe, whether it is a space in nature, family or travel. The idea of a safe place is related to the Greek word Temenos, which means sanctuary, grove. Temenos Jung introduces to psychology, where he identifies it with a safe place and implies a space for mental work. According to Jung, Temenos is a square circle in which an encounter with the unconscious can take place, in which a fragmented person will be healed, reorganized and regenerated, and where these contents can be brought to the light of consciousness like memories. Memories are the ones that take us from our current presence in real space to a place that is “virtual”, where we recreate the image. Most often, the first thing we agree with when we evoke memory are the sounds that bind us to that space.

This piece is reproduced inside spatial audio installation inside an enclosed space that would be a system for multi-channel sound reproduction of 15 speakers placed in a circle at different heights. This way, the phantom center was deliberately bypassed so that it was not necessary for the listeners to sit directly in the middle. The goal was to create an immersive sound experience where the listener could enter an inner, virtual world that would evoke his deepest feelings and meet the unconscious. The listener should not only experience sound as external information, but also be immersed in it with his inner sense of hearing. This work consists of 7 musical fragments (Silence, Diving, Noise, Reverse, Shadow, Awaking and Emerging).
