As the music unfolds, the quartet guides us deeper into the narrative of "Boulevard Heloise". A lonely walker meanders along the boulevard, each step echoing with pangs of the past. The clarinet’s melody weaves through the air, capturing the delicate interplay of memories that dance like shadows beneath the street lamps. It tells a tale of nostalgia and longing, drawing the listener into the heart of the scene.
The cello, with its warm and resonant tone, eventually takes up the opening melody, offering a new perspective on the initial theme. It speaks to the walker's inner journey, each note a reflection of the turmoil and yearning that define his path. The exchange of melodies among the instruments mirrors the evolving reflections one might experience while traversing the boulevard's storied paths, where every corner and cobblestone is imbued with echoes of days gone by.

Next up is one of my most heartfelt and personal compositions, "The Tenth Game". Originally titled "10th Game," this track holds a special place in my heart. It was the very first tune I wrote for the folk band Punt back in 2011 or early 2012, and it marked the first time I felt truly proud of a piece of music I created, no matter what else was happening in my life.

Looking back, I wonder if my teenage brain was dramatizing those years, but at the time, it felt like I was living through a dark chapter—a period of fighting for what I believed was right for me. The seemingly playful title, which I’ve kept, reflects the games and systems we often find ourselves navigating in life. For me, it stemmed from my experiences in 10th grade in Estonia.

As someone who has always been outspoken and unafraid to stand up for others, I often found myself at odds with the rigid expectations of school. My ambitious drive to perform, travel, and participate in youth exchanges clashed with the school system, particularly in one subject—a foreign language class—that I couldn’t excel in. It wasn’t just my teenage resistance; the quality of teaching in my countryside school made it difficult to catch up when I moved to Tartu, especially since I got into one of nation's top schools.

Things became even more intense when I was elected to represent my school at the national level in the Estonian Student Councils’ Union and as a student representative in the school’s teacher council. Juggling these responsibilities with performing, traveling internationally as well as nationally between the capital, Tallinn, Tartu, and my home; singing at the national boys' choir, and studying left me utterly exhausted. The bullying I faced, not only from a few peers but also from school staff, reached its peak when I received a scholarship to study abroad in Italy.

That period was a whirlwind of stress, endless study hours, and feeling unsupported. I vividly remember moments of complete burnout, seeking help from teachers only to find none, at one point I remember falling asleep/passing out on the street in the snow from exhaustion. Internet comments on my publicly published articles stung more than I’d like to admit. Ultimately, though, these experiences made me strong as a steel. Leaving Estonia for Italy, where tolerance, acceptance, and mutual support were central to education, was a relief. Studying alongside 200 students from 90 different countries gave me a fresh perspective and helped me unlearn the toxic traits I’d been surrounded by.

This tune has always been my favorite to perform, yet it’s also been the most challenging to record. I’ve always worried it might come across as too sad, too angry, or not meaningful enough to capture its depth. For this 2025 album version, I’ve worked to give it a new perspective—one that feels more positive and reflective while staying true to its original essence.

I’m profoundly grateful to everyone I’ve had the privilege to perform this tune with, from my Punt bandmates (Jaanus Karlson, Säde Tatar, Lõmaš Kama) to my fellow musicians in Italy (Andy Troska, Jacob Lindberg, Rita Barros Seixas, Mattis Appelqvist), Rochester (Evan Basta, Reid Zuckerman), and New York City (Charlie Rauh). Special thanks also go to my dear dance friend Diina Tamm, whose beautiful choreography has brought this tune to life over the years.

Each of you has added your unique flavor, making every performance of this piece a new chapter in its story. This tune is like a book of memories for me—memories of healing and growth. I hope this new version resonates with you and brings new meaning to this journey. Thank you for being part of it.

I make Hip-Hop working on my first project release. Getting used to sharing my work with people.

Valev Laube is a contemporary folk musician, mostly performing his original music in the United States and Europe. Born in Northern Europe, Estonia, he learned both classical as well as Estonian, Finnish and Swedish folk music. In addition to classical music education in different institutions, folk music workshops, youth exchange projects and international music festivals have inspired him to write and record many of his now well know tunes. Through performing and participating in various projects this young artist has been able to gather inspiration from Scandinavian, Estonia, Finnish, Russian, Polish, English, and French music.

My name is Pierre Bohemond and I am an Orchestral and Chamber Music composer.  My style ranges from modern classical to modern romantic with musical influences spanning from Rimsky-Korsakov and Igor Stravinsky to progressive rock. 

In 2014, I successfully composed and publish a ballet “Dreams Interrupted” choreographed by Trinette Singleton, a former Joffrey Ballet alumna and artistic director at the Repertory Dance Theater in Allentown, PA. 2020 Successful Call for Scores
At the end of 2020, I submitted a chamber music composition "The Shores Of Phoenicia" for clarinet & piano (Adapted from Phoenicia Symphonic Suite op.35) to the Allentown Symphony Orchestra’s Call for Scores: New Music Series Chamber Music.
