Suite from The Father's Love

Andrés Soto is an Costa Rican composer based in Los Angeles. Skilled in both classical music and film scoring, Andrés is equally comfortable either composing powerful orchestral pieces or scoring for motion pictures. He has 5 features, 5 documentaries and over 20 shorts to his credit, and several of his concert pieces have been performed by orchestras and ensembles around the world. His latest film scores include the comedy "He Matado a mi Marido" a wacky comedy directed by Francisco Lupini starring Maria Conchita Alonso and Assumpta Serna, "Nowhere" (a bilingual Colombian-American drama directed by David and Francisco Salazar), and "Buscando a Marcos Ramirez", a coming of age sports story directed by Ignacio Sanchez shot in Costa Rica. 

His work as an arranger and orchestrator has led him to work with emerging artists in diverse areas, ranging from performances of his collaborations at the US OPEN (tennis), NYC Fashion Week with violinist Jane Hunt, and Ars Nova theater in NYC with composer Max Vernon.

Andres holds a Masters in Music Composition and Film Scoring from New York University. He previously studied Music Composition at Hofstra University where he obtained his Bachelor degree, with a minor in Film & TV Studies.  

He was a  recipient of the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts Scholarship in 2009 and 2010. He regularly lectures on the topic of film music in colleges and schools both in English and Spanish.
