The product of a week's work by pupils at The Manchester Grammar School. Mostly instrumentals, some individual pieces, some written and played by duos, and one almighty pop classic produced by the whole ensemble.

The West Coast Jazz Octet was formed to play the music of the legendary Dave Pell Octet and recreate the 1950s West Coast vibe of cool arrangements along with space for individual soloists to express themselves.
For many years the Dave Pell Octet was the House Band for the Steve Allen Television Show having to perform new charts of jazz standards and original compositions on a daily basis resulting in a vast body of work by composers and arrangers including:
Bob Florence, Shorty Rogers, Marty Paich, Bill Holman, Johnny Williams, Andre  Previn and Dave Pell himself.

The personnel of the band is made up of experienced jazz musicians based in the North West of England who appreciate the intricacies and subtle restraint which this style of music demands.
