Premiered at the Sydney Opera House in 2016, "Voices of a Northern Year" describes the feelings and scenes of the seasons in the Scottish highlands, as dreamt by Brisbane composer Margaret Tesch-Muller and recorded by the Hourglass Ensemble directed by Andrew Kennedy with Jenny Duck-Chong guest mezzo soprano

Since 2015 Hourglass has lead the way in commissioning and touring new Australian chamber music. The core group of founders Andrew Kennedy and Ewa Kowalski were joined in 2018 by Anna Rutkowska, and the trio of flute clarinet and piano is always joined by the best collaborators from every corner of Australia and every section of the orchestra, creating original and exciting programs that make it easy to love contemporary genres.
