Sometimes you just want to put your hands inside this Crystal Ball and take what looks like it doesnt belong there. A missing piece? "But in all the English speaking continents? Why the Outback love? You want to be swept off your feet down under? New untamed lands perhaps? Ofcourse there's always the UK and the Irelands, where this phonetics orignated, then theres South Africa, New Zealand, USA and Canada which all speaks mainly English you know? Just different accents. But what intonations of the English verbal hoola-hoop acrobatics that turns you on? What is this magic? This feeling that you are a match made in heaven and finish every sentences yet you've never met? There is this unnusual body chemistry from Day 1, right? Have you always felt like you where always have been born in Australia?  So why Australia love?" A warlock by the name of Torvin Locksmith visited Sydney, to reach out his hands inside Australia, to find a missing person, grab it and extract her back. She is one of 'the Curtained', tucked away from sight of the witching world because she escaped an arranged marriage in the Citadel when she was only 13, placed her world upside down, her name is Hope. An the witches circle kept her alive just for the hope that one day she will change her mind, keeping a door open you know, before she kicks that wooden bucket. The Witches Circle wants to win the heart of a young woman by using her as a breeding cow for their families, to improve the genes of a dying race of witches. A war is brewing in the cauldron and only Hope's blood can save them. How can they convince a woman strategically in hiding to walk in the spotlight? Living a normal life of Instagram and fashion magazines, working for Vogue Australia as an unknown savvy fashion editor. Will they convince her by sending Locksmith with his juicy magic apple and big strong biceps, let a young witch fall in love for the first time, you know, the natural way?  An epic journey of romance, ancient blood-wars and games of Tarot Cards in the Australian Frontiers that we've never seen before, opening doorways to new worlds their ancestors did imagine. A war between the old world, and the new just started to fight for one gypsy woman's unwavering devotion to a cause? Which world needs to slowly dry out, so the other one can flourish? Many immortals will be there to watch Hope and Hugo as they yet face and battle their new family's greatest threat and play a new board game with The Watchers, the Uninvited, Três Macumbas, and Percival Bellephoron. Love Magic Brazil is an exotic dive in to one of the longest living monarchy in the Americas, a dark society in deep hiding will now face a young witch as she will also make that one ultimate sacrifice for love  in the very unpredictable Brazilian jungle. Two new leaders of a witch clan will rise... a man and a woman will again settle an age-old conflict in full battle regalia, a war that commenced in the crisscrossing coathangers of the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the very top of the 28 m. left to right arms stretch and 30 m. tall Corcovado soapstone.

Artist Biography:

EddiBell is the music project of Norwegian producer, Torstein Horgmo, focused on the nature-inspired and organic subset of downtempo and electronic music. After nearly two decades of intention as a professional snowboarder, EddiBell has now become Torstein's outlet for personal development through the healing power of sound.

After a number of singles since 2019 and a self-released EP in 2021, EddiBell's explorations have culminated in his debut album, MEDISIN, to be released via Outtallectuals record label in December 2023.

Dara is a project created by Gregory Berlov (Russia), also known as an organizer of several music festivals in the art camp Meduza on the Black Sea coast.

The music of Berezhno is an excellent blend of Slavic melodies and electronic rhythms of groovy drum-n-bass, lively trip-hop, and enchanting ambient soundscapes. In his music, Gregory experiments a lot in mixing genres and in sound design production. He also created a recording studio called Hitin in which Gregory records guest vocals and ethnic music artists.

The tracks of Berezhno are made based on improvised live music sessions recorded in Bali (Indonesia) and in Meduza art camp (Abrau Peninsula, Russia), and therefore the tracks sound as if performed live. Gregory says that the album is a call to stay true to one’s roots. The music of Berezhno invites listeners to immerse into the culture of their ancestors, listen to ancient whispers, gain the wisdom of all people and tribes unity.

I think the infinite ways a piece can change in the hands of different musicians is actually very interesting. My version is fast but lyrical and I search for an unexaggerated and natural romanticism and warmth.

'Settlers' is the new album from Western Skies Motel in a limited edition of 170 gatefold 180gram vinyl, CD and digital formats.  'Settlers' was mastered for vinyl and digital by Taylor Deupree, with master lacquers cut by Roger Siebel at SAE.  The first 50 Vinyl & CD's ordered come with a bonus EP, 'Generations' mastered by Kirk Marrison of Kiln.

In the dry desert of Arizona that Lost Tribe Sound calls home, a letter is received from guitarist René Gonzàlez Schelbeck who’s eager to share a collection of intimately composed songs, titled 'Settlers'. Upon listening, we are immediately enthralled. There’s a timeworn, arid, and almost badlands quality to Schelbeck’s hypnotic, cyclical guitar style. It seems to perfectly capture the lonely, barren landscape of the American West. 

Yet, there are curious dynamics at play here as Schelbeck, who makes music under the alias Western Skies Motel, is from Denmark and far removed from any upbringing in the rough-hewn Americana style of folk guitar. Conceivably, his music has more in common with the lonesome, calculated tone of Berlin's modern classical scene or the rainy day folk of the UK. Those are intriguing parallels, since the collective mood of Western Skies Motel's music would adapt so well to either environment. 

Words hardly do justice to the rich, immersive experience of 'Settlers'; yet a few may help to set the stage. Schelbeck is a remarkably well rounded instrumentalist, who spent his early days losing his hearing in local punk rock bands. This youthful love for walls of sound and discordant guitar squalls survives in his modern sound palette. However, a more mature approach to these techniques brings moments of palpable tension, adding in uneasy waves of guitar feedback and droning harmonium. 

But ultimately, the truth of what Schelbeck hopes to convey through his music may rest rmly in his subconscious. In hindsight, 'Settlers' is about moving between worlds: not in the dimensional sense, but more as a constant change in form. Each influence and sound Schelbeck incorporates into his music feels native to the delicate ecosystem of these songs and each turn feels as organic and nuanced as that of the natural world. Just as a tree’s leaves wither and fall; a fire sparks and expands only to expend its last bit of fuel, extinguished and left for ash. So true are the parallels we find in our own existence, the complex ritual of growing old and returning to dirt. Decay is inevitable for all life, yet through this it becomes the rich soil for all things proceeding. Western Skies Motel's weighty instrumental mantras may root in this and other meanings yet to be culled. One thing is clear, this music contains signicant power, and, regardless of our conceived themes or geographic locations, it tells a story that is lasting and instantly familiar. 

'Settlers' sees a 180-gram heavy weight gatefold release very similar to the recent Mute Forest debut, 'Deforestation'. The acetate and test pressings were scrutinized for anomalies on world-class vinyl setups at Arizona’s esteemed audio dealer, Arizona Hi-Fi.

Western Skies Motel is building upon a busy year in 2015, having released two very different full-length albums 'Prism' (Preserved Sound) and 'Buried and Resurrected' (Twice Removed).

Fogh Depot continues its quest for the fifth element, experimenting at the confluence of jazz, modern classical, and electronic music. Two years after their first S/T release, the Moscow-based trio presents a new album - Turmalinturm.

Like the previous recording, this is a unique blend of ostensibly incompatible elements. A traditional academic approach fuses with lo-fi spontaneity. The raw and vivid texture of the bass springs forward from a modular sterility. At times the mixture is explosive. No wonder the studio where the album was created burned down a month after it was completed.

This album imparts a new, architectural dimension to Fogh Depot's music. A fortress named 'Turmalinturm' rises from a solid foundation of jazz, neoclassical minimalism, and experimental electronica. But the sophistication of the fortress' towers makes one suspect that each had its own architect. 'Quicksilver Spoon' is virtually flawless in geometric form. 'Who The Last Says No' is so fragile and delicate that it is a miracle it does not collapse. 'Oscar' is perhaps the most complex and substantial tower of the ensemble. 'Alice, Bob & Cypher' has a secret of its own in the old vaulted underground crypt. One of the structures is topped with a Gorgoneion, a stone head of Medusa. Another houses a bell tower borrowed straight from Rachmaninoff's Suite No. 1.

Tourmaline is a stone that appears to change its color depending on the angle of view. Turmalinturm's listeners get to choose how to approach the fortress. Some will discover the same pensive melancholy sounds that Fogh Depot started with. Others will find lighter, brighter, occasionally even euphoric motifs.

The iconic Penguin Cafe join the Erased Tapes family and open a brand new chapter to their unique world with new album The Imperfect Sea – out on Erased Tapes 5th May 2017.

A penguin stands in the middle of a scorching desert, far away from its natural habitat. This mirrors composer Arthur Jeffes’ journey and exploration into a new musical territory. Penguin Cafe have evolved into something of their own at the hands of Arthur who started the band in 2009 with the continuation and homage to his father’s legacy, to the late Simon Jeffes’ Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Now, their upcoming album echoes reminiscent sounds that embrace the new.

The album title refers to a saying by his father that “we wade in a sea of imperfections…”, reflecting upon the idea that beauty can be found amongst the chaos. “If there is a narrative to the album it’s coming to the acceptance of the imperfections in all aspects of life; moreover, the recognition that these imperfections and tiny randomnesses are in fact what make up the best parts”, Arthur explains. This has also been highlighted by the striking cover artwork designed by FELD under the art direction of label founder Robert Raths, resembling a lone figure adapting to and accepting its surrounding environment.

Predominantly self-composed, the new album also features covers of electronic works by Simian Mobile Disco and Kraftwerk, along with a re-working of Simon's 'Now Nothing'. Arthur has developed from the traditional folk and jazz heritage Penguin Cafe Orchestra is known for into another realm of blissful ambience and dance music, recreated using strictly acoustic elements.

“For this album I wanted to effect a departure from where we’d been up to now. The idea was to create a musical world that would feel familiar to an audience more used to dance records but stay true to our own values. So we replaced electronic layers with real instruments: pads with real string sections, synths with heavily-effected pianos, and atmospheric analogue drones with real feedback loops ringing through a stone and a piano soundboard.”

On the day of release, the band will play a headline show at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge, commencing the beginning of this new adventure for Penguin Cafe.
