I've struggled with this song for so long.  And I wish it was recorded better.  I think I'll have to in order to do it justice.  It's probably the favorite song that I've written.

It's about a relationship with a power struggle.  But it's not obvious that the one in power actually has it.  The narrator just asks for simple validation or recognition of approval.

When I was overdubbing vocals, my oldest son actually happened to make a noise at an opportune time.  So we left it in.  And it fits with the meaning of the song - being in a childlike position with respect to another.
