Martín Prechtel is an author, painter, musician and educator. Raised on a Pueblo Indian reservation in New Mexico, Prechtel traveled to Guatemala and made his home in the village of Santiago Atitlán, where he was trained in the Tzutujil shamanic tradition. He is the author of The Smell of Rain on Dust, Secrets of the Talking Jaguar, Long Life, Honey in the Heart, The Disobedience of the Daughter of the Sun, Stealing Benefacio's Roses and The Unlikely Peace at Cuchumaquic, and runs the international school Bolad's Kitchen. www.floweringmountain.com
