独自のバンドサウンド感覚から出発し、ミニマル・ミュージックへとアプローチをかけるようにして水面下で活動してきたFLATPLAYによるファーストE.P.が3月7日にリリース。2016年春、インターネットにドロップされたFacial Soundsを新たにミックスしたトラックを一曲目に据えて、他にもストレートなベース・ミニマル・サウンドを呈す「Daphnis」、2つのメインテーマが絡み合いながら直線的に進む「Natural Theft」、ベース、コード、その他細かなフレーズを16分割マトリクスに配置、それを8ビートで切り刻むようにして織りなす「Pathetique」のオリジナル4曲を収録。さらに現行のアーバン・メロウシーンの中でひと際異彩を放つD.A.N.のフロントマン櫻木大悟と、若手クラブ・ミュージックシーンを牽引する東京のレーベル兼クリエイター集団「TREKKIE TRAX」よりandrewによるremixをそれぞれ含んだ今作は、総合的な意味でFLATPLAYの活動の集大成とも言える内容となっている。ミニマル・ミュージックは如何に持続を体現するか。その事のみに関心を注いだFLATPLAYによる41分間に及ぶ濃密かつ軽快なライト・ミニマル・サウンドがここに誕生する。

 《Profile》
2015年、パフォーミング・ノイズ・ユニット「乾燥胎児」を母体に東京都在住の篠崎奏平によるソロ・ユニットとして始動。その豊富なバンド経験を元手に様々なジャンルの音楽要素を取り入れ、ミニマル・サウンドへと昇華する形でトラック・メイキング、ライブ活動を行っている。現行のシーンでも無二の存在として注目を浴びているD.A.N.の自主制作音源集『DAN ZINE』及び『EP』にremixを提供したことから注目され始め、生で演奏すると言う事にはらみ込む一つの持続感を注ぎ込んだビート・トラックは業界を始めとして賞賛を集め始めている。2017年3月7日、D.A.N.や東京のレーベル兼クリエイター集団TREKKIE TRAXのandrewによるremixを含んだファーストE.P.である文字通り『First Extendet Play』をリリース予定。ならびに、同年3月30日、レコ発企画ライブを渋谷WWWにて開催予定。
