DUALITY: An album in two parts.

Since day one, I have always struggled with how to present myself. Am I a dance music producer who does downtempo / experimental albums? Or is it the other way around? My first album had a bit of both, which is why I have referred to ‘Duality’ as the true followup to ‘It’s Artificial’. Part One focuses on the downtempo side of things with hints of indie-pop, while Part Two explores my progressive and trance roots. This is by far my most raw and honest work. On June 1, we released two songs from each part: “Equal” with Asbjørn (Official), and “Midnight” with Alison May.

I did not do this album alone. These are more than just “features,” these are collaborations. Together, we have woven a massive journey that is deeply personal, and showcases our most vulnerable selves. Many of these fabulous collaborators are also LGBT+, and I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful musical family.

The closing chapter to ilan’s golden year, ‘Scars’ (Remixed) puts his songs in the hands of a trusted inner-circle of musical contemporaries.

Debuted at ABGT300 Hong Kong, German trance titans Cosmic Gate are at their brooding best, flipping ilan’s anthem ‘Frozen Ground’ feat. Giuseppe De Luca. Serbia’s Vintage & Morelli lends a 90's house twist to another De Luca record, ‘I Believe’. There are also reworks from Dutch maestro Rafaël Frost, Russian progressive star PROFF, Spencer Brown, KOVEN and ilan’s musical partner in crime, Maor Levi, who contributes three fresh mixes to the album. Rounding things off is a live studio rework from Glastonbury favourites Shadowlark, the band fronted by ‘Rival’ lead singer Ellen Smith.

We have long been fans of Vladimir Ershov and his PROFF alias, and we’re pleased to welcome him back with ‘We Believe’, featuring Mokka on vocals.

He first came to our attention back in 2008, when he made his debut on Anjunadeep with ‘My Personal Summer’. Soon after that we gave him a remix on Anjunabeats, delivering a memorable rework of OceanLab’s ‘Lonely Girl’.

Flash forward to the present day and he’s a leading figure in Russia’s electronic music scene, with releases on Silk Music, ZeroThree and Intricate Records as well as Anjunabeats. When not working on his own music, he’s nurturing the next generation of Anjuna talent and is a growing part of our family behind the scenes.
