Introducing ‘Duality’, the new double album from Andrew Bayer. 

Two musical threads weave through the collected works of Andrew Bayer. One thread gave us the downtempo masterclass of 2013’s ‘If It Were You We’d Never Leave’ and the brilliant 'In My Last Life' LP. The other thread produced arena-sized anthems like 2014’s ‘Once Lydian’, his epic 'Super Human' with Asbjørn and the club remix project 'In My Next Life'. 

From the introspective to the explosive, these records are our community’s shared soundtrack: we’ve all got a favourite Andrew Bayer record. But they have come in so many forms and styles.

It leaves us asking the question, who exactly is Andrew Bayer? It’s a question he’s asked himself.

“Since day one, I have always struggled with how to present myself. I love making these experimental home listening albums of electronica and indie sounds, but I also love DJing and making trance bangers. On my last album I had to remix the album in full after it was released to make the worlds fit. This time around I wanted to capture all the breadth, depth and tension within that duality under one single project” - Andrew Bayer

‘Duality’ brings these two creative threads together under one album for the first time since his debut album 'It's Artificial'. 

Crafted over three years, Bayer is joined by an eclectic cast of collaborators old and new. ‘Duality’ pt. 1 explores Bayer’s passion for downtempo and indie-pop, while ‘Duality’ pt. 2 takes on his forward-thinking trance and progressive sond. Both are tied by Bayer's unique vision, a shared sensibility and same group of collaborators. Today, you can hear a sample from each side: ‘Equal’ (with Asbjørn), and ‘Midnight’ (with Alison May).

Anjunadeep is excited to welcome back Moon Boots (Pete Dougherty) for his playful new single ‘Come Back Around’ - the first taste of a third studio album rumoured for an early 2023 release.

A collaboration with lead vocalist Clementine Creevy of LA rock band Cherry Glazerr, ‘Come Back Around’ tells the story of a nostalgic lover playfully calling their crush back to them. A winning combination of funked-out melodies, fast-paced breaks, and Creevy’s cheeky vocal, ‘Come Back Around’ signals a strong return for Moon Boots to Anjunadeep following two exceptional albums - Bimini Road and First Landing - which have accrued over 101 million streams. In an unlikely yet colourful collaboration, Creevy electrifies Dougherty’s arrangement, resulting in a catchy single that straddles the worlds of pop, indie, and dance. On the collab, Dougherty says:

“I got in touch with Clem after hearing her on tracks with Cherry Glazerr and I was immediately drawn to her voice - she has these amazing, gentle melodies, but sings them with a rawness that grabs you. We got together late last Spring when she happened to be in NYC, and we wrote the song in 2 creative sessions. This is the mark of the next musical chapter for me and I hope everyone enjoys it!"

Championed by the likes of Annie Mac, Diplo, Danny Howard, and The Blessed Madonna, Moon Boots has established himself as a trailblazer of R&B-infused dance music. Having remixed the likes of Dua Lipa, Robyn, and Nile Rodgers, Dougherty’s production prowess is in high demand, whilst his eclectic DJ sets and live shows (including a full live band) have seen him tour the world, with recent headline shows sold out across North America and Australia.

Moon Boots’ latest with Cherry Glazerr demonstrates his capacity to experiment and have fun. The LA-based rock band has seen great success on the indie circuit, being championed by Pitchfork, NME, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, and DIY magazine, and most recently supporting Alt J, Portugal. The Man and Jack White on their North American Tours. 

The single is accompanied with a lively music video filmed at Coney Island, featuring Dougherty and Creevy. Directed by Kenneth Bachor, the video is colourful and carefree, embodying the track’s flirtatious nature. On the collaboration and music video, lead singer Clem said:

“Pete cracks me up. He’s such a funny dude and I really love how he made this song so uplifting, and yet groovy and soulful at the same time. He has a vibrant spirit. We went to Coney Island to shoot the video and it was my first time there, so I was dancing like a little crazy woman just galavanting around the boardwalk blasting our song. My favourite moment was Ken, Pete and I squeezing ourselves into the teacups ride for the last shot- three grown adults in the tea cups were kind of insane but beautiful.”

Acclaimed electronic duo Kasablanca return to Anjunabeats with 'Dream About You'.

This enigmatic melodic techno duo exploded onto the scene in summer 2020 with their Lane 8 collaboration, 'Run', a bonafide hit for both artists. As of October 2022, it’s been streamed over 22 million times on Spotify and charted at #1 on SiriusXM BPM. ‘Run’ was followed by their debut album 'Human Learning', and a standout collaboration with Bob Moses, 'Afterglow'. They've enjoyed extensive support on their releases from Vintage Culture, The Chainsmokers, Above & Beyond, Pete Tong, Don Diablo, Oliver Heldens, and many more.

In December 2021, they joined us at Anjunabeats, remixing Above & Beyond's 'Black Room Boy' as part of the '10 Years of Group Therapy' celebrations. Their first original music on the label arrived soon after: the three-track 'Immunity EP' was released in March 2022. The title track ‘Immunity’ was playlisted on Diplo’s Revolution station on Sirius XM, and was described as “a sleekly propulsive slice of melodic techno” by Billboard. Their latest offering 'Dream About You' was premiered by Above & Beyond on their Anjunabeats Volume 16 mix compilation in July 2022.

The duo debuted their live show, replete with racks of modular synthesisers, at Red Rocks Amphitheater in September 2021 while supporting US bass superstar Rezz. They've thrilled crowds across the globe, including at our Group Therapy Weekender festival at Dockyards London - their first-ever UK headline show. Kasablanca are currently on tour with deadmau5 and NERO, visiting San Francisco, Austin and Boston over the coming months with some massive shows locked in for 2023.

'Colorize’s highly acclaimed compilation series Colorscapes returns for its fourth volume on 14 October, featuring three stunning DJ mixes from Matt Fax, PRAANA, and a debut Colorscapes appearance from Dutch Producer & DJ Estiva, putting a spotlight on the most exciting acts coming out in the worlds of progressive, melodic, and deep dance music, with almost all tracks completely new and unreleased. 

As well as unreleased gems from Matt Fax, PRAANA, and Estiva, the trio premiere and shine a light on tracks from established Colorize arists including Klur, Modera, L.GU., Alex Breitling, Rokazer, Tommy Baynen and Eugene Becker, plus label debuts from Hessian, Bridges, Gabben, AUTOFLOWER, Datskie and Leo Lauretti. 

To celebrate the release of Colorscapes Volume Four, Colorize will host its largest European event to date, held as part of Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) at Nova on 20 October. 

Having compiled Colorscapes since its inception in 2019, Matt Fax said: “With Colorscapes, I try to take a different approach in the selection and the mixing. This year, I wanted to showcase the Colorize sound palette by selecting tracks that really reflect the label’s mood and identity.”

Colorscapes newcomer Estiva said: "As an artist, it’s satisfying to be able to show your full story, your purpose. You don’t often get the chance to take the listener on a journey and tell them what’s in your head through music. Colorscapes allowed me to translate my musical vision into a coherent DJ mix, using tracks that scatter around on the melodic dance music spectrum. I feel closely connected to the Colorscapes series as the music resonates with my personality. Usually, the music is uplifting but sometimes may have hints of melancholy and loneliness. However the element of hope always shines through.”
