“Capricornia” is the first single from the eagerly anticipated second album from Allo Darlin’ entitled "Europe." Look for the single in February 2012 and the album later this spring.

Achingly personal, incredibly poignant and familiar all at once, Elizabeth Morris’ songwriting has deepened and developed since their debut, and while the upcoming album may have a more sombre feel to it “Capricornia” shows that they’ve lost none of their ability to create sophisticated, intelligent pop music with an uplifting, joyous feel. And for those of you wondering exactly what Capricornia is all about, Elizabeth explains:

“Capricornia is the area in Queensland that I'm from. It has imaginary state lines, roughly around the Tropic of Capricorn, which runs directly through my hometown. There's a nice 70s monument that marks the spot where the line passes, out on a lonely dirt road where all the kids learn how to drive. My family have lived in this area for over 6 generations but none of my generation remain. It’s a beautiful place.

Musically, when we first discussed the album with our producer, I suggested that the feel of Europe should be somewhere between 'A New England' by Kirsty MacColl and 'Cattle and Cane' by The Go-Betweens. I think this song is the closest to that.”

O Astronauta

New Mexico native, coco morier made her way to Los Angeles to via Berlin where she had birthed her raucous electro-trash pop girl duo Electrocute. coco has since collaborated and written with a diverse group of artists/producers ranging from Miike Snow, Wynter Gordon, Junkie XL and the legendary Tom Jones. Furthermore, coco has also written and performed on Britney Spears’ last three albums, giving the famous pop-tart extraordinaire some her coolest fan-favorite tracks including "How I Roll" and "Heaven on Earth". In 2010 she scored herself a spot as Charlotte Gainsbourg’s lead guitarist for during her first world tour.

Now coco morier debuts her solo EP, an infectious and playful five song collection exhibiting a cross pollination of dirty synthesized disco jams, sleek synth pop and lo-fi garage rock suffused with mesmerizing sugary melodies. Despite her unexpected and decidedly anti-mainstream influences, her tunes are inescapably catchy. Defying the boundaries of genre has been coco's unique strategy thus far, and it serves her well as she serves up the best of both worlds: sophisticated pop dressed up as indie music that actually doesn’t suck and occasionally uses a major chord.
