the flight path characteristics of honey bees are mapped onto a small set of synthesizers. amplitude being effected by the distance of a bee from its hive, while frequency and vibrato are attributes of the flower which a bee lands on. flight here is represented by silence.

3 sound sources slowly chase up a single glissando at their own rate, while a sonar remains constant. duration and sound source chosen by a weighted random algorithm in performance.

an amazing rendering of directions(2) written for ben levinson and his contrabass. a series of positions for the left hand and bow are given in a tabular format along with proposed duration, bow pressure, and bow speed. the performer is asked to progress through the table and make fine adjustments to the positions of the hand an bow to find single string multiphonics. melodies, harmonies, and rhythmic forms emerge through an unbounded collaboration between the directions and the determination of the performer.
