To be free, means to be a freak. Whether as a DJ, label manager, T-Shirt creator or all-round talent – since two decades, Ellen Allien is one of Berlin’s exceptional phenomena that have created her own universe with the combination of old school-based underground love and contemporary experimental spirit. After the lovely musical affair with Thomas Muller for the track „Free Nation“, for her new solo release we hear the anniversary bells ringing. The three tracks – which are co-produced by Martin Eyerer and Skinnerbox – already mark the 300th catalog number of BPitch Control.
The „Freak EP“ is not only the result of the last months in Berlin; it also flags up the change to Ibiza, where Ellen uses the warm season to spray her positive vibe during her residency in DC 10. „Butterfly“ acts like the kick-off and not only host graceful 808 pinpricks, with the dreamy melody in the background a nostalgic aura raises that reveals Ellen’s warmer side. Especially the bass rumble emphasizes the physicality of her music in an impressive manner – in short: pure love. „Come To
Me“ is desire and passion within seven and a half minutes. In addition to the deep house frame groovy beats pushes in the foreground that sets free a hypnotic mantra. Spineless dancefloor magic that rewinds time with the haunting rave signal, floating Roland synths and the SH101 raveline. With the title track „Freak The Night Away“, Ellen once more succeeded in creating a hymn that embodies both the slogan of every great night as well as the strong atmosphere of her energetic DJ sets. Again, we hear Ellen’s charming voice – crazy, playful, creative. Following the motto: just go! With rattling claps and a warm bass, dancing won’t become a compulsion; the track clearly goes under the skin with its 303 acid hints as well as Roland piano sounds and opens the gate to another dimension. After twenty years at the center of the electronic scene, the enigma that is Chloé still stands. While Chloé has long transcended her image as the “DJette” behind legendary club night Pulp, headlining the Rex as well as clubs and festivals throughout Europe, Endless Revisions represents yet another deviation from rigid genre classification, deepening the often-linear perspectives on current music. A rich and multi-faceted work, the artist’s captivating third album drifts from one mystery to the other, harkening back to philosopher Theodor W. Adorno’s maxim: “the task of art today is to bring chaos into order.”
Seven long years in the making, the follow-up to One in Other is only the third full-length by the artist, whose high standards translate into scarcity: “I did wait a while to make this album,” she confirms, “because I prefer not to impose deadlines on the full-lengths. To do so would stifle my creativity. Over the past few years, people have come up to me with interesting collaborations. I composed the score for Lidia Terki’s feature Paris La Blanche, worked with the Ircam for a live interactive installation, reinterpreted Steve Reich with percussionist Vassilena Serafimova... These opportunities forced me to leave my studio and encounter other people’s universes, which allowed me to grow. So today, I feel like I have new things to express.”
The time felt right for the producer to come up with a new opus: “the label was born out of a desire for emancipation, for self-assertion. Lumière Noire was the push to finish this new full length.” This third LP serves up Chloé’s music in its finest form – music that eschews the well-trodden paths of delight and seduction in favour of an experimental sensibility that puts motion before emotion. The title, Endless Revisions, refers to the constant work that goes into the gestation of the artist’s inner landscapes before they can be displayed for the audience. This sensory experience also serves as a mirror that she hangs for herself, each resulting track providing another step toward emotional equilibrium.
The idea with this new label, this new album, is to look towards the future.  This album represents who I am now, as I’m opening up to new horizons.”

 We’re excited to present the remixes of the amazing album „Behaving Like A Widower” by producer Holger Zilske and Swedish singer-songwriter August Landelius. The album was released on our label in 2011 and was nominated for the award “Deutscher Radiopreis” in the same year. “Behaving Like A Widower” is so good, it actually wouldn’t require any remixes. Nonetheless, our friends went down to work with great care and passion for detail. Monokle, Nocow, Almunia, Kim Brown, Stimming, Dave DK, Irrelevant and Lake People have contributed to this double vinyl. It’s up to you to choose whom you prefer! Vinyl tastes better…
