5 hours opening b2b with Topper on the Renate Green Floor on a Saturday night back in May. Like any good b2b, listening back I can forget who played what sometimes. Always a pleasure! A treat to play in this Berlin club that might not be around much longer. Thanks to Renate resident Lush Lab for the invite!

Two of our favourite things at lempuyang HQ are deep techno and curry. As one of Glasgow's best exports in recent years, Chris covers both bases. He also happens to be a shithot (geddit?!) DJ and producer. Chris first came to our attention after his contributions to the always excellent OHM Series label, and he was subsequently invited onto our annual 'Pura' V/A compilation, comfortably holding his own against heavyweights such as Hydergine, W-Moon & Merv.

In addition to the above, you'll also find Chris loitering in the rosters of Mixcult, Greyscale, and we highly recommend picking up the excellent Sons of San release on Verdant.

LPY Mix Series 20 - Dubrovnik (UK)

It’s been a while — but here’s a fresh live recording. Captured at Ploegendienst Festival (Breda, NL), Day 2 on the Kaap Stage, beautifully hosted all weekend by the highly respected VBX crew. 

Rain and wind kicked off the day, but the real ones pulled through early — true Sunday warriors. My stage was one of the few offering shelter, setting the tone for a deep and warm opening. Later, I switched gears and gave the early crowd some well-earned punchy tunes.

Ploegendienst and VBX have always meant a lot to me. Their joint energy on this one pushed me to go deeper into my own sound. Truly grateful to be part of such a powerful line-up.

CONTEXT & ENERGY:
This work is a demo (WIP) of a future track which is inspired by the manipura chakra (the inner fire). It is a rather energetic and dancing moment in the Koundal live show with Gwam.
You might have been able to hear a glimpse in the souvenir video of our recent gig at the St Felix de Montceau Abbaye, by Montpellier (France).

THE INSTRUMENTS:
The Rhythm lies on a strong base: a big B sub bass and an electro kick, with a tempo of 100 bpm, sustained with different types of maracas. The World edge is given by the added djembe as an oriental percussion and the didgeridoo which sets a rather hypnotizing and atmospheric background. The main melody is led by an native ameridian flute.

Ceci est une démo de travail (WIP) pour un futur morceau qui puise son inspiration dans le chakra Manipura (le feu intérieur). C'est le moment le plus énergique et dansant de notre spectacle live Koundal & Gwam.

Vous avez pu en entendre un aperçu dans la vidéo souvenir de notre passage à l'Abbaye St Félix de Montceau !

LES INSTRUMENTS :
Le rythme repose sur une base puissante : une grosse Sub Bass en Si (B) et un kick très électro à 100 BPM, soutenus par des maracas. Le côté World est donné par le djembe joué comme une percussion orientale et le didge qui pose une toile de fond hypnotique. La mélodie principale est portée par la flûte amérindienne.

VOTRE AVIS EST CRUCIAL !
* Pensez-vous que l'équilibre entre la grosse Sub Bass et le djembe oriental fonctionne bien ?
* Le tempo de 100 BPM est-il idéal pour cet effet de transe dansante ?
