Antrea: Could be the name of a planet from a Sci-Fi movie. A world with bazaars and temples that are reminiscent of ancient human cultures, but with holograms and all sorts of wondrous spacecrafts hovering through the air. So Antrea is a great name for an EP that sounds as huge and epic as if it really was the soundtrack for this kind of Sci-Fi movie. Even that seedy bar where adventurous aliens and space travelers from all corners of the galaxy hang out has been transcribed into sound: Four different remixes add a proper dose of transdimensional drive to the dream-like boost of the original tracks.

 About the Ep:
Mysterious Swedish duo Elfenberg craft complex yet warm, organic electronic explorations in their Continents EP, an eclectic mix of worldwide influences aggregated intro three original tracks.
Opening track Cadenza explores an enigmatic African theme built on steady percussion and hazy vocals. Adding dramatism and nostalgia with whirl-winding synths, the construction reaches a floating peak point, evolving into a shimmering crescendo.
Gaivota plays with guitar clips and vocal loops to create an atmosphere of fragility and sentimental isolation. A solitary kick holds the track together and imprints structure onto the predominantly wavy melody, making it a great build up track.
Named after a North American Native tribe, Meskwaki steps things up with a stronger rhythm accompanying the wistful tribal vocals and undulating synths. Powerful percussive reverbs and low pitched drums create a seeming sense of calm, only to steer into a masterful drop, accompanied by avian chirps and trills.

For release number 186 on Ready Mix we welcome talented Hungarian artist Robert R. Hardy, also known as D.M.P., proudly unveiling his brand new ethnic/downtempo alias, rBert.

Commencing rBert's debut release is 'Vagabundos', a languid and deep mid-tempo electronic cut that simply shimmers with oriental mystery. 

Shadowy Swedish duo Elfenberg lift the tempo into moody progressive house territory, retaining a strong flavor of the Orient, while adding pulsing synths and potent percussion into the mix.

Second original track 'Sinere' sees rBert lay down a compelling deep house groove, over which ethereal vocals gently entwine with flutes and subtle plucked strings in a heavenly chorus. 

Greek producer VieL offers up a sublime reworking of 'Sinere', concocting a warm and comforting atmosphere with his airy and effortless arrangement.

Unable to get enough of rBert's sounds, Elfenberg return to remix 'Sinere', cleverly juxtaposing those sweet vocals and strings with brooding synths and insistent, snappy drums.

Since its launch in 2010, Alex Niggemann’s lovingly curated label has steadily established itself as a crucial platform for the finest talented artists. Always focused on searching out exceptional musical gems, it is this quality over quantity approach that has enabled the careful development of Soulfooled’s own distinctive style.

This next instalment presents the stunning coming together of Dave Seaman (one of the legends of electronic house music for the past 30 years) and Flowers & Sea Creatures. Having been launched in the electronic scene’s consciousness via their debut album on Ben Watt’s seminal Buzzin’ Fly label back in 2011, the decidedly un-egotistical Canadian outfit Flowers & Sea Creatures have stealthily maintained their impeccable underground credentials with a drip feed of releases on the likes of Compost, My Favourite Robot, Innervisions, Strange Town, Natura Sonoris and Dave Seaman’s Selador Recordings. In fact, it was an unused vocal track by the trio’s Graham Baxter, originally commissioned by Dave for another studio session that proved to be inspirational in the creation of ‘Attention Deficit’.

Opening with ‘Dave Seaman’s ADHD Mix’, a sparse percussive intro, steadily builds into a deeply engaging hypnotic whirlpool of vocalised anticipation. Mixing euphoric flourishes with tense atmospheres is the mark of a truly distinctive artist, and Dave Seaman’s extensive musical knowledge shines brightly throughout, blending a wide variety of elements to create a style very much his own. The ‘Flowers & Sea Creatures Mix’ sees the Canadian trio up the energy levels, add their own twist to the vocal arrangement and liberally sprinkle their distinctive magic dust over proceedings to create a spine-tingling, pulsating alternative version. Completing the package, Sweden’s ever-innovative Zoo Brazil blends a deliciously linear percussive backbone with his rarified blend of uplifting melodic motifs, resulting in a decidedly dynamic remix finale.

With the talents of Dave Seaman, Flowers & Sea Creatures, and Zoo Brazil joining an ever-growing family of superb artists, Soulfooled continues to grow into one of the finest labels around.

Premiere: Kid Simius - Planet Of The Simius (Hidden Empire Remix) [Jirafa Records]

Brazilian duo, Demitros and Dante Pippi have impressed with their nascent production partnership. Now continuing their musical relationship, "When You Get There" sees two new original tracks with a pair of high-calibre remixes from Belgium and the UK.

Both finding themselves with increasing roles to play in the Brazilian underground dance scene, Demitros and Dante Pippi are riding high. Demitros has excelled on Particles with his twin-track "Cosmos" EP in July 2017 before joining forces with Dante Pippi for a remix of Pole Folder's "A Glimpse into the Past" in August 2018. The title track is thus a pulsating progressive house gem that bristles with intricate rhythmic framework and grooved bass line. Building easily, a second, rasping analogue bass adds character and depth before a twinkling arpeggio and searing lead line reach their zenith in the breakdown before continuing into the third movement. Partner track, "Halfway", continues the intricately programmed rhythmic framework and strong beat of its predecessor while a rich and pulsating bassline combines with catchy motif and pulsating pads. An additional, rasping bassline adds further character while a free-flowing lead line moves the narrative forward in the second half with its filtered and vibrato timbre.

Pole Folder is a name that requires little introduction. An iconic figure thrust into the limelight with early work for Bedrock, the Belgian has gone on to feature on a host of impressive imprints including his own Reworck label. A regular on Proton Music since 2006, a decade-long hiatus saw him return to the label with "A Glimpse into the Past" in July 2018 with remixes from Retza and Funkform. First appearing on Particles with remixes of Ferdy in 2012 and 2014, it is a privilege to see him return to the label. Remixing the title track, the Pole Folder interpretation makes great use of the original components, developing them into new and exciting directions. A hypnotic and pulsating groove provides the perfect backdrop for the central melodic theme of "When You Get There" to makes its presence felt at the midpoint before exploding in the third movement surrounded by strong kick, fizzing snare and open hats.

An artist on the rise with a growing portfolio of music to his name, Imran Khan continues to impress with each successive release. A regular on Clinique with a clutch of original tracks in 2016 and 2017, Khan has gone on to feature on the likes of Stellar Fountain, Clubsonica and Astrowave. An original appearance on the "Winter Particles 2018" saw "Arrival" with a full release alongside "Dreamcatcher" in August. Remix swaps involving Hot TuneiK and Kamilo Sanclemente have added to the Imran Khan portfolio as he now returns to the label with a typically impressive reworking of "Halfway". Retaining the core melodic structure of the original, a raft of new progressive material sees a shimmering sequence emanate while new grooved chords and stereo-panned stabs delight atop driving beat and complex percussive cadence.

Remixes from Pole Folder and Imran Khan have ensured Demitros and Dante Pippi are well on course "When You Get There".

Los Angeles based DJ and producer Evelynka delivers the outstanding Sin EP, marking her Monog Records debut. A classically trained artist, her influences run deep and wide. In her younger years she delved into the brooding melancholic classics before she got caught up in the electronic music world in later years. She found herself embroiled in the European underground house scene for a number of years where she immersed herself in music, gaining experience and making memories. In 2013 she returned to the USA and began her career as a DJ, playing gigs in Boston before she got the urge to start producing her own sounds. Several releases on quality labels followed, which forged her a solid rep on the scene. She is also known as a singer and here she lends her sultry tones on vocals which really enhances the sound, giving it a unique flavour. Great to have her on board at Monog.

First up we have the smooth, sultry vibes of Love which are carried along on a bed of tight beats and soulful grooves. On the low end we find a deep probing bassline which saunters through the sound accompanied by subtle chord stabs and soft melodies. Rich pads grace the background adding depth and texture while the vocal melts into the groove and ultimately into your soul. A beautiful slice that will not disappoint.
