The Cage is an album caught between light and shadow – a collection of songs that breathe both intimacy and grandeur. Minimalist guitar and piano motifs intertwine with warm cello lines, carried by hypnotic beats and wide, cinematic soundscapes. The sound moves between trip-hop, indie and alternative – at times fragile as a whisper, at others soaring and eruptive.

The lyrics circle around love in the face of collapse, around longing, and the feeling of being trapped while still carrying hope within. Each track opens its own space: from melancholic floating ballads to dark, urban trip-hop grooves.

With The Cage, Velvet Petals deliver a work that feels both vulnerable and powerful – a soundtrack for sleepless nights, moments of solitude, and the quiet triumph of loving against all odds.

While Tragic Hero may currently be independent, he is far from an industry unknown. This unique emcee has dropped singles since 2011 leading up to his debut free project Going Home, a blend of booming speaker-beats and thought-provoking lyrical couplets. His impact reverberated to features on numerous projects, most recently on the songs like "All Around The World" from the Southern Lights: Overexposed album from the Collision Records artists, Alex Faith and Dre Murray. In 2013, he released The Resistance, an EP created solely with the production talents of Wes Pendleton. Using the producer-rapper duo formula made famous by the classic Hell’s Paradise album, Tragic Hero showed the musical dexterity to morph into different styles seamlessly without losing his distinctiveness. The project even peaked in the top 40 of the Hip-Hop charts on iTunes, showing the growing fan base that exists for his quality music. 

After managing to create a buzz and anticipation, Tragic Hero releases his debut album, My Own Worst Enemy which showcases him as creative an emcee as there is in Hip-Hop and the sound of My Own Worst Enemy reflects that creativity.Tragic Hero infuses different sounds and instruments all throughout which gives this record a unique sound tailored specifically to the vibe he creates. This critically acclaimed album has been described as "honest, gritty, and uplifting." The album peaked in the top 20 of the Hip-Hop charts on iTunes and even charted on Billboard. 

As a Camden, NJ native of Ecuadorian decent, Tragic Hero is a family man whose simple goal is to positively impact his city and surroundings through the power of pure Hip-Hop.
