In the wolf forest close to Uppsala I placed a drop rig continuously recording for 48 hours and mixed it down to nine minutes. In the order they appear:

raven landed close and walked around at the same time as WOLVES had a concert in the distance

Wolf forest from dusk to dawn

I revisited this location, ten nights later, for a different vantage-point, nearer to the Eastern Banjo Frogs (cf. https://soundcloud.com/hearingbeings/20220901-night-pastures-late-winterearly-spring). Soon after recording began, an Australian Magpie in a nearby gum tree uttered a quiet melodic warble, and then continued with a long series of telegraphic, punctuated vocalisations. Finally, closing with another melodic warble, it lapsed into silence again.

Recorded around 01:00.

Early morning. I went to see if it would be possible to record moor frogs in a place where I know they are. I didn't see any frogs, but I did meet a capercaillie. I tied the microphones to a tree and left to record. The picture shows the same bird that appears in the recording.

A soundbit from my recent travel to northwest Greece. After the evening rainshower the sky cleared up and I got some hope for a recording session at the Vikos gorge. I had abandoned my original plan to descend in the gorge and spend couple of days there, as the rain kept on and the danger of slippery paths and falling rocks outweighed the chance of successful recording. Not to mention the fact that rain itself ruins it.
I set up my tent on the hillside at the edge of canyon, in hope of getting the reverbs of owl calls. Here you can hear the mellow chorus of crickets, some distant hoots of Tawny Owls and also the purring of Green Toads (Bufo viridis) which carried surprisingly well over the distance.
I must say that Vikos is not the best place for recording evening ambiences - the density of airtraffic is intolerable. This is the longest bit without plane noise I got from this evening and night. But I am still happy with that :)
