Scientist by day, DJ by night. Brenda's life is a dynamic blend of science and music. A classically trained pianist and saxophonist, music has been a lifelong defining force. Active in Chicago's underground scene since the late 90s, Brenda is now a Smartbar resident, A&R for Format Recordings, and co-curator of Format events and the Format.FM podcast series. She creates a symbiotic relationship with the dance floor, feeding off its energy and giving it back tenfold, drawing inspiration from soulful jazz, dark, gritty drum & bass, and beyond. While her sets maintain consistent themes of darker, harder, hypnotic techno, she also explores moments of ethereal sound, harmonious melodies and jackin' stompers. An advocate for women in both music and science, Brenda, who holds a PhD in molecular and cellular biochemistry, champions diversity in all pursuits. She finds mentoring deeply rewarding and is committed to giving back to the underground culture—building community, fostering connections, and empowering others.

Avant-garde means "advance guard" or "vanguard". The term was originally used to describe the foremost part of an army advancing into battle and is now applied to any group, particularly of artists, that considers itself innovative and ahead of the majority. 

The term is used in English as a noun or adjective to refer to people or works that are experimental or innovative, particularly with respect to art, culture, and politics. 

Avant-garde represents a pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo, primarily in the cultural realm. The concept of avant-garde refers primarily to artists, writers, composers and thinkers whose work is opposed to mainstream cultural values and often has a trenchant social or political edge. 

Avant-garde in music can refer to any form of music working within traditional structures while seeking to breach boundaries in some manner or to describe the work of any musicians who radically depart from tradition altogether.

Underground Techno
TE#RA is a Techno music association based in the city of Ceres (Argentina), Juan Cretton and Juan Pablo Gay, who merged their tastes by Techno and Trance and created this new musical project.
TE#RA es una asociación musical con sede en la ciudad de Ceres (Argentina), Juan Cretton y Juan Pablo Gay, son quienes fusionaron sus gustos por el Techno y por el Trance y crearon este nuevo proyecto musical.
