DEEP SOUL MUSIC! (Guest mix for The Urban Beat) Oct'2013

'Save it' was the last Rurals song recorded with Marie Tweek. I wrote the music with Charlie Hearnshaw (he played the sax and Rhodes). This is a very emotional song for me, as it was recorded when we had just been told our second son was also autistic, creating a lot of pressure in our personal life. We split up very soon after recording this, so i decided to put The Rurals on hold for a while. I remember recording the vocals at my old Dawlish studio, it was done in about 30 mins, Marie didn't write anything down, she just spilled her heart out! It was released on the "Farming Grooves" album (2008), and also licensed to a Defected chill album.

Whilst living in my home by the sea in 2010 i went into a crazy studio mode! I was making a lot of music/albums and felt i really had a lot of emotions to express. One day i saw on f.b that Jaidene Veda from Canada was staying with a friend in London. I'd heard her voice on a song a song and really liked it, so i reached out and asked her if she fancied a visit to Devon. She came for a few days and we made The Rurals song 'Into Life'. I suggested she came back to do some more recording, as i had started writing a soul album, she was keen! so she came and stayed for a few weeks to write and record some vocals on the project/album that ended up being 'COMPTON -COMPTON's Soul'. I remember every part of this album coming together well, and when Jaidene came and stayed it was one of the coldest ever Novembers! It took me a long while to complete this album, as i was hoping it was gonna blow up, i even mastered the album 3 times!! 
This is one of my fave songs from the album (music made by myself, and with Pete Morris on the Rhodes).The COMPTON project also featured vocalists Diviniti, Ladybird, and Kafele. This has to be one of the best albums i've produced!
