Last month on the 13th of October, we invited house music hero & all round good guy Derrick Carter to bring his 'Derrick Does Disco' party to the Sub Club helping to celebrate GLASGAY! 20th Anniversary.

The source of many a man-crush (particularly from our local DJ geeks and record freaks) our sexy affair with Derrick has spanned a good couple of decades. Perhaps it’s his desirable physique, that intense beaded brow around 2am or his disarmingly charming manliness from the moment we met him off the plane.

Either way we’re always hot for him and so was everyone in the crowd who joined us as we got down and dirty in a darkened room and showed each other some serious loving, with no strings attached till 3am.

With Derrick in control for the full four hours we had to get the roadblocks out. Here is an hour of this amazing set specially picked out by the one man block party himself.

FINNEST brings us a new release, "ITS TOO LATE" by Mesquitas & Danny (AT), in its third reference, second of its "Underground Series" division, it is an original cut accompanied by a remix by the talented Philipp Lichtblau. The Original cut is an obvious example of the quality that Rafa and Danny have accustomed us to, very elegant deep house with a super sensual vocal and a subtle rhythm perfect for heating up the club floor at the beginning of the night. In the remix we have Philipp, who after having signed on labels like HedZup or Rendr presents us with a more minimalist version of It's Too Late, with a deeper bassline, a more extended dynamic and a happy groove that makes you move your foot uncontrollably and inevitably. Without a doubt, this maxi is a piece worthy of collecting.

This is the 2nd Mixtape that was made available in early '93 which was part of a set of tapes that were recorded live at the Deepeace/DiY NYE party at the end of '92. The party was in Marshfeild on the outskirts of Bath & If you were one of the thousands there I'm sure you will agree it was one of the most memorable NYE parties I've ever experienced!
This mix is me delving more into the progressive side of house that was about in the free party scene & the slightly harder edged U.S. house, although always coming back to that deeper jazz tinged groove that i loved. 
Re-mastered from original recordings with no gap for a full 90mins of unbroken music for your listening pleasure ...enjoy Mr M x

Deepeace/DiY NYE party 1992

Deeply prolific Bristol-based house connoisseur Andy Compton has released over 50 albums and over 200 EPs (either under his own name or as part of his legendary group The Rurals, COMPTON or L.A.M.P, Blue Dream) on his essential Peng label and imprints like Motown, Universal, EMI, Sony, Ralf GUM’s GOGO Music, Chicago’s LARGE Music, Seasons, Viva, Hed Kandi and many others.
South Africa has embraced Andy's deep house sounds, and because of his popularity over there, and albums released via EMI, SONY, WEA, and now Universal. He has done over 20 South African tours in the past 10 years.
Since discovering house music in the early ‘90s Compton has released a dazzling array of music and worked with an army of artists. He’s been featured on the cover of the seminal DJ Magazine and had his music used in TV show Six Feet Under, while tunes like “Sweeter Sounds” have become bona fide anthems at spots like NY’s Shelter.
