Sydney DJ Steve Sonius explores the catalogue of long defunct Sydney cassette label Masking Tapes to create this mix of rare, deleted and unreleased material recorded between 1984 and 1995. The mix is available as a limited cassette edition on Germany's Kashual Plastik, accompanying the label's recent vinyl release, 'Magnetic South: A Collection Of Rare And Unreleased Masking Tapes Recordings 1984 -1986'.

The mix includes tracks by Pelican Daughters, Andy Rantzen, Shibboleth and Knapp, alongside Pelican Daughters collaborations with Sydney industrial dub punks Wrong Kind of Stone Age and dub producer and Loop Orchestra member Sheriff Lindo. It includes tracks originally released by Cosmic Conspiracy Productions, Silent Records, 4-4-2 Music and Forced Nostalgia alongside unreleased archival material.

Steve Sonius is a Sydney DJ and one of the brains behind the  arts/music hub Bad Dog. A veteran house jock with wide-ranging tastes, he has performed for decades in the alleyways, basements and warehouses of Sydney's underground club culture.
