Bart and Baker (www.bartandbaker.com) are two venerable Parisian DJ/Producers, dressed in tuxedos and hi hats. There are many dj’s playing retro style music but what makes Bart&Baker so unique is that they were the first back in 2005 to be able to mix old records with new, remix and revive old 1920’s music, scratching 1940’s and 50’s tracks and generally making new dance/house music from a vintage source. 

As Bart&Baker says, “we pride ourselves on reinvention, using elements that already exist like vintage music, burlesque performance styles and costume so we were able to please or uncover the vintage music shades of rhythms to both vintage fans and modern kids”. 

•	The duo has released 8 CDs through Wagram Music since 2005 and sold around 200 000 copies worldwide.
•	Signed to the Parisian Label Entouka they have released in 2012 8 digital EPs, selling around 30 000 tracks though legal platform and streaming website. They have been listed in the Beatport 100 for 4 of their remix in 2012 including a Top 20 for the KeX remix of Communications.
•	More than 600 000 listens on soundcloud since 2011.
•	Their various video have hit nearly 1 000 000 views on Youtube
•	They have provided remixes for the likes of Dimitri From Paris, Gabin, Parov Stelar (label) or electro swing stars Caravan Palace.
•	Since 2005, residencies in Parisian Clubs like Machine du Moulin Rouge, Regine’s, Flèche d’Or, Divan du Monde, Favela Chic, ….

Over the past couple years Sanctuary has made his imprint on the local scene and beyond with some notable DJ performances, a handful of singles gaining international support from a Noctilux beloved in the form of Doctor Jeep; being showcased in a FKOF mix. Along with his tastefully tribal and moody debut EP:  ‘Laid Off’ teaming up with contributor and long time friend: @wolfcamo. If you’ve ever set foot inside a deep bass arena downtown Calgary there’s an outside chance you’ve already heard a heater or two of his being rinsed from one of our many astute selectors in the city, as much of his work has been appropriately well received within the community thus far. 

Turning now to his latest project and first solo EP: ‘Laissez-faire’ a term used in politics that means stepping back, and letting things naturally follow the trajectory they’re meant to take. This concept appears to be unswervingly channeled throughout the record, allowing embryonic ideas to evolve patiently. Painting dark, rudimentary soundscapes- Compiling into conjugated complexity. Sanctuary has been hard at work this year tuning his technical and creative prowess alike and it doesn’t go overlooked. Also, I would be remised if I didn’t mention the mastering work on these tunes are some of the most exceptional I’ve personally heard from a Calgary producer. With heavyweight tracks that span the breadth of all our favourite realms, we are certain that this latest release will have something affable on it for each and every.

And begin to relax more and more, deeper and deeper. Relaxing and releasing. A little deeper. Just easily and peacefully relaxed, unwinding. And feel a sense of peace and calm. It's just draining away. It really doesn't matter.

I'm releasing this teaser set of demos due to a recent computer crash which has me worried I'll lose my last year of work. I also have not uploaded anything in a while so I figured this may keep you interested in the meantime. I plan to release most of this material and hopefully more next year.
