DJ rennais et résident du collectif RAMDÔM, il puise son inspiration dans l’univers steampunk et ses imaginaires rétro-futuristes. Fasciné par la notion de « Machine », il explore des sonorités métalliques, industrielles et électroniques, qu’il fusionne pour créer des sets immersifs. Tantôt sombres et puissants, tantôt frénétiques, ses compositions mêlent rythmes bruts et touches mélodiques, jouant sur la contradiction entre l’humain et la machine.

Hailling from Sens, in the countryside of Burgundy, France, Johnny Mafia have played a major part in the recent explosion of the French indie rock scene, alongside other high-energy, explosive acts such as Lysistrata, The Psychotic Monks or Slift.

With two higly acclaimed albums, inspired by classics like Ramones or Pixies as well as more contemporary acts such as Wavves, and over 3000 shows across Europe, includind some of France’s biggest festivals, Johnny Mafia have established themselves as a front-runner in the ever-growing current French scene.
After recording and mastering their sophomore album with producer Jim Diamond (The White Stripes, The Fleshtones, The Sonics) the band turned to local french producer Kris Banel, who recorded countless excellent french punk rock albums, to record their third album, Sentimental, in the summer of 2020.

This new record features 13 deeply catchy and furious tracks, with infectious choruses, that show a surprising pop sensibility, hidden behind walls of guitars reminiscent of a time when MTV was still a cool thing, Sentimental is an uninhibited, thrilling indie rock album, an instant classic, the likes of which don’t come out every day in France.
