Florida Breaks - Old School (Vocals)

.... an opportunity not sought out by me, but an opportunity that found me. I give you our version of the latest track by Christina Novelli.... "Armour".  ....to be released with the original by Teevo Rains and Nova Kordz on GlowWorm Recordings UK.

Quite the contrast from the original; a delicate balance of the very essence of her vocal with a compliment of innertwined synths, arp's, basslines and live drums, all coming together to take those who truly listen and pay close attention to the sonic journey the ride provides and ultimately hear the "cumulative" story within...

Those at GlowWorm and myself greatly appreciate you listening and hope you'll share with others so that we can bring great music by amazing vocalist such as Christina to those who love EDM.

"up & up" (demo track)

An instrumental track... a product of one of those late night, early morning "sessions" that brought about a collective of sounds that got looped and the mic was passed around to all who had something to say.  

This is the instrumental that was looped, straight off the mixer direct from the keyboards and beat machines... the raw freestyles were left out and kept only by those who shared their deepest sorrows that night.  

....find yourself in the same place that we were that night, then grab the mic, close your eyes and see what thoughts become vocal products over this track.

....just let it go!!!!

"Sorrow" (freestyle instrumental)

On July 4, 1999 I opened up for Paul Oakenfold at the State Palace Theatre in New Orleans LA.  The next day after arriving home I had a package waiting for me.  It was the Yamaha EX5 I had ordered a week before.  I immediately hooked it up and started going through the presets and came to one called RadioActive.  This track hit me in an instant and after almost 48 hours later I was mixing this track down.  Done entirely inside the Yamaha workstation, needless to say I was highly impressed at the quality of this instrument.

After many painstaking months of learning the ms dos sequencer FastTracker I finally knew enough to actually finish a track.  This is the 1st remix and really the 1st project that I ever did.  It almost hurts to go back and listen to this, but we all have to start somewhere's, right.

To explain the name 1st and foremost...  nothing in life is really easy, for anyone.  We are certainly no exception to that rule.  Daring to dream, setting a goal and then finding the courage, strength and ambition to go after it is hard work in and that of itself.  That set goal always stays in the center of your efforts, but the path one takes to reach set goal might change over and over.  However there are only three hundred sixty degrees in a circle and no matter how many times one goes around that circle, no matter how many times one has to back up and find another way... there is always an               ANGLE OF ATTACK to go after and achieve that dream!!!

Beginning lifes journey in New Orleans Louisiana, surrounded by the funkiest of jazz, the deepest of blues and the hardest of rock, I, Mavi, developed a love for music with emotion at a very early age. My earliest memory is unwrapping a saxophone I received at the age of four. By the age of six I could literally blow everyone away. From there I went onto guitar and remain devoted to the instrument today. Somehow or another I found myself in my early teens wanting to express myself through sound. Hoping to find others wanting the same I tried to form a band, but to no avail I was left to my own devices.

At the impressionable age of fourteen I was taken to an afterhours club by some older friends and heard techno for the first time. I was hooked in seconds. I was captivated by the art of djing and how sound and songs could be combined together to create something new and move an audience. Coincidently Trent Reznor, NIN, released Pretty Hate Machine and after learning his story and how he came to be I knew I could do this myself.

I fell in love with the industrial sound and how many different directions it could be taken in. Which led to the developement of my dark sound as a dj. Spinning mostly tech house and hard trance I witnessed how the energy of this hard driving music moved people in audiences all over the world. I was lucky enough to share the stage with a few of the absolute biggest dj's in the world, to include Sasha, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold and Paul Van Dyke.

After a long endeavor into the djing world I realized I had grown tired of only playing other producers music and wanted to use my formal education in music along with an extremely vivid imagination of what I heard in my head to share with others who love this particular sound. Over the years I've experimented with rock, hiphop, pop, dance and the industrial trance sound.

For the past decade I've been living in Miami Florida, a dance music and party mecca. Easily one of the most influential cities in the world. Having allowed some of the newer sounds of today to enter my creations I try to stay within the lines of what hooked me into this world. Time will ultimately tell as to what AOA will be known for.
