UK based Four Candles has risen the ranks in a short time with stand-out releases for Bedrock, Balance Music, Selador, and his own Keep Thinking imprint. A DJ at heart, his sets ooze emotion and melody, making him the go-to DJ of choice. Equally, Kabi (AR) has made his mark with gusto. Releases for everyone from Soundteller to Anjunadeep show his diversity. This is an exciting pairing that thrives on creative, emotion-led storytelling. 

Opening with ‘Sofa Surfing’, we are invited into their deep, vibey world with rubbery bass and expansive pads. Evolving over time, the melodic layers ebb and flow, creating a rich sonic tapestry of warmth and inclusion. On the flipside, ‘Need U’ begins in a similar fashion: vibey bass, warm synth stabs and sparse percussion. With storytelling at its heart, the melodics soar midway. A sensational partnership in the making for sure.

Amir Telem - Going North (Ben Monday Remix) [sag & tre]

In August 2024, Toronto-based duo Beije delivered a magical musical triptych in the shape of "Ardere". As Proton Music returns to the EP, a pair of remixes from Brazilian and Sri Lankan talents now reimagines two of those tracks.

A powerful force in South American Progressive and Organic House, Vinicius Souza has created a sizeable following through his RIGOONI moniker. Starting his production journey in 2018, the Brazilian star quickly found his way onto a host of noteworthy modern imprints that include the likes of Hicky & Kalo's Plaisirs Sonores Records, Roger Martinez's HIGHER STATES and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. Add to that a mentoring programme on his own Amesch imprint, a Beatport Organic House #1 spot and runner-up in a ‘Sonic Academy Remix Contest', and it is not hard to see why RIGOONI is such a highly regarded figure in modern dance music. A trio of remixes for Proton Music have seen reworkings of Savvas, Trilucid and Dabeat in 2022 and 2023, as the São Paulo-based artist now returns for a fourth outing. Taking on the delightful "Lumina", the RIGOONI remix drives easily forward courtesy of a compelling beat and light percussive touch. Evolving gently, elements from the original gradually come to the fore, accompanied by a developing palette of additional production material that always remains sensitive to the aural characteristics of Beije's work. Hitting its heights, post-breakdown, a gated synth sequence adds interest and dancefloor character, following the melodic patterns that made "Lumina" such a powerful original piece.

A prolific and exciting talent, NOIYSE PROJECT, has quickly gone about ripping up the rulebook in search of a unique and defining Progressive House sound. Some 300 production credits later, and the Sri Lankan artist has seen his music become a staple of numerous well-established imprints. Thus, Mango Alley, UV Noir, Balkan Connection and AMITABHA have all played host to his well-defined sound, featuring heavily in their release schedules. Furthermore, his own Till The Sunrise imprint has been a regular home for a host of original music since late 2021. A pair of original tracks in "Myth in Manaus" and "Naymaria" both found their way onto Particles in 2019, as NOIYSE PROJECT now makes his Proton Music debut with a captivating rhythmic powerhouse. Taking the tribal drive of "Impetus", the remix further extends the groove with a series of pitched effects and thumping kick. Evolving steadily, the melodic elements so central to the original gradually make their presence felt in an immaculately programmed dancefloor shell. Hypnotic and mesmeric in execution, the track takes on a whole new direction as NOIYSE PROJECT keeps the energy and vibrancy high throughout.

Beije - Lumina (RIGOONI Remix)

The producers combine on title track “Avalon” for that rare beast of a production: one that somehow feels instantly familiar. At its core is an epic, melting-butter synth that sways with the measured poise of a cobra under a snake charmer’s gaze. It’s hypnotic, graceful, and impossible to walk away from. A delicious drum section and rolling bassline drive the track forward, combining groove and class in equal measure. In a word: huge.

The twenty-first release from Moments is a statement of intent, a collection crafted for the twenty-first century. Momento, a word merging moments and memento, captures the essence of fleeting experiences turned into lasting memories. Curated by label founder Guy Mantzur, the release introduces a new concept: a four-track compilation showcasing diverse approaches to modern electronic production.

The opening track, Mystica, unites Guy Mantzur and Tamir Regev, long-time collaborators whose partnership has earned acclaim across the global scene. Known for their organic and melodic sensibilities, the duo stretches their sound further, blending hypnotic grooves and emotive textures that ignite dancefloors with subtle sophistication.

Next comes Arcturus, a deep, cinematic journey by Volen Sentir. Anjei and David once again prove why they remain central figures in progressive house. Their track exudes a fluttering rhythm, carried by a melancholic melody that feels both futuristic and nostalgic, as if echoing from a distant horizon.

Yuvée follows with Devine, a luminous and uplifting composition that defines his hypnotic house style. The longest track on the release, it unfolds with deliberate pacing and layered progression, guiding the listener through an almost timesuspending experience, one that feels both introspective and euphoric.

Closing the compilation, Catalano bridges continents through collaboration between Australian producer Jamie Stevens and Ivan Aliaga, an artist from Argentina. Their track blends deep, trippy undertones with acid-tinged modulations and an anthemic structure that delivers a sense of resolution. It’s an innovative finale that ties the release together with conceptual coherence.

With Momento, Moments doesn’t merely present music. It curates memory. Each track serves as a sonic keepsake, a reminder that in the ever-changing pulse of electronic music, moments are fleeting unless we choose to notice them.

Volen Sentir - Arcturus

Rounding off in fitting style what, if we may humbly say so ourselves, has been a pretty damn stellar year for new tuneage emanating from Selador HQ …it’s the oh so welcome return of a stalwart of the label, a soldier of the scene, and all-round ace human, the one and only… Just Her.

And it’s double bubble time, as Claire’s musical gift to mankind is not one, but two surefire festive favourites. However, much like Slade recorded Merry Xmas Everybody on a sweltering summer’s day in NYC, our winter wonderland tale starts back in the heady days of August – as the Selador Boat Party cruised the Adriatic during the much lauded (and inaugural) Balance Croatia festival.

As Just Her’s set reached an especially exhilarating crescendo, both Steve and Dave simply had to know what one particular track was. Claire advised it was new; it was one of her own called ‘Secrets’, and it was currently unsigned – 10 seconds later, it was very much signed, sold to the men with the bunny logo. One listen to this beauty, by turns tough as old boots and effortlessly euphoric, and you’ll soon see why.

Sister track ‘Floating Clouds’ then joined the party, bringing another equally infectious addendum to proceedings. With its incessant arp gliding hypnotically over punchy bass and whip cracker percussion, it’s not just here to make up the numbers, it’s a serious contender for your favourite track of the release.

Quivver - 10 From 10

I've been listening to electronic music since I was old enough to tune into the John Peel show on Radio 1. Peel first introduced me to Chicago House, Detroit Electro and Rap. I would listen to an entire show with my finger hovering over the record button of my 'tape-recorder' close to the radio speaker just to record whatever 3 electronic imports he would play each night. I wish I'd kept those recordings.
From the moment I first heard 'Roxanne Shante' I sought out everything I could ranging from Kraftwerk, Mike Oldfield, Kurtis Mantronik, Africa Bambata, Grandmaster Flash, Gorgio Morodor, Axel-F, Jean Michel Jarre and just about anyone who used a synth to make music! With the arrival of House in the mid-late 80's the likes of Marshall Jefferson, Frankie Knuckles, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Steve Silk Hurley, Adonis and many more American underground House producers, the music had developed into a new, seriously exciting phenomena.
Music progressed at pace with House and Acid imports driving change, the UK in particular underwent an epiphany of sorts in the 80's and 90's. From Break-Dancing to New Romanticism, the music developed, finally morphing into the early genres of Acid Trance, Techno and Progressive Trance. Heavily influenced by American and underground Dutch and German artists and with the advent of clubbing and non-speaking mixing DJ's, it opened up a Pandora's box of new music, influences, sounds and styles. What that amounted to for me (and most others like me) was an ever-growing range of electronic music that was continually breaking free from pigeon-holes and mainstream pop culture. Electronic music had become the new classical music of a generation.
I can only say that electronic or computer music has evolved beautifully in the past 40 years and I love it as much now as the day I first heard John Peel play fantastic American imports.
I'm not anything more than a bedroom DJ and electronic music enthusiast. I have the greatest admiration for those who DJ publicly and seek to build a following or career from DJing, but that’s not a path I’ve tried to follow. I do love to put together great tunes, so for me using this sort of platform for sharing music is perfect for me. I do mixes both on my decks and using Ableton, as sometimes I find it easier to create a journey through that medium. 
As for making music, I’m slowly finding my way around Ableton in order to bring life to the musical ideas rolling around my head. 
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the mixes I post, please give me some feedback and if nothing else, support the artists themselves and buy their music.
