Austrian duo Pech+Schwefel  debut on AFR with the hypnotic and trippy Sloppy Tape EP. Relative newcomers to the scene, the pairing show dynamic production techniques that blend together the essence of classic mechanical, looped out, techno with a modern twist.

Other Form's appeal stems in large part from the way he blends poignant and bittersweet melodies with blistering techno structures. The Unknown Movements boss has been churning out moody, sub-heavy techno on Unterwegs (DE), Dissonanze (IT), Diffuse Reality (ES), and Soptik (DE), and here presents three new tracks that capture a mix of anxiety and excitement for the current state of the world.

The kick drums on the opener "Incantation for Release" are steely techno, but the ascending melodies and buried textures are beautiful and contemplative. The frantic breaks that open"Shaped by Change" give way tothe swirling synths that engulf the track, andare a little too graceful for the big room. "A Widening Rift" is fast paced, but its pitter-patter synthline and reverb drenched stabs play call-and-response with some punchy kicks.

A.Morgan and Decka bolster the British trifecta for this release with two stunning remixes. 'A Widening Rift' by A.Morgan is ruthlessly deductive, effortlessly pinging the original synthline with hypnotic rhythms accented by a melancholic orbit of notes without belabouring the point. Decka, on the other hand, goes all out on 'Shaped by Change,' with a rotating kaleidoscopic sequence married to brawny drums that starts off on a relatively straightforward note before the rolling groove breaks and off-kilter tones that heighten the already unsettling atmosphere.

Slam kick off 2023 with their latest release on Soma, with Disorder EP.

Never ones to stand still, and rest on their laurels, the duo are consistently pushing forward the boundaries beyond what the status quo offers. This new 4 track release has the perfect blend of the energy Slam are known for in their DJ sets, blended with deeper hypnotic elements to create something fresh & new!

The Crossing opens with a driving, tunnelling vibe, powered with jarring, syncopated synths and coarse atmospherics. With more emphasis on rhythmic elements, Covert still hits hard and keeps this pressure up. Depot opens up into more hypnotic sounds as reverberated synths give space and depth throughout the track. Disorder closes out with a dark, twisted side to it as detuned synths lead the charge on this as cutting percussive elements give the track pace.

On March 10, 2023, ABSL will release MTY008 «It’s just a bad dream», the 10th release on Anetha’s label Mama told ya. Already on board for the first EP of the label MTY001 «Body changes are natural», then invited on the first compilation MTY-EAU «L’eau repousse les feux agressifs», ABSL is now building his own way through one-of-a-kind cinematic album. «It’s just a bad dream» includes 2 hypnotic vinyls and 10 chimerical tracks. 9 are produced by ABSL and one is co-produced between ABSL and Anetha. MTY008 plunges us into one feverish nightmare, but don’t worry, Mama will be there if you wake up.

For this new Mama told ya’s LP, the gloomy artwork is a painting by Polish artist Aleksandra Waliszewska. Our dream team as always: Diplomatie Studio took care of the design, mastering was entrusted to Sixbitdeep.
