Testing out my newly acquired Studiomaster 16-8-2 analogue console.  No headphones unfortunately...lots of bleed.  Love the EQ and having three aux sends/returns is handy.  The sibilance/plosives could have been avoided, but I was being a lazy ass.  

When listening with headphones, put the left side over your right ear and vice versa.  I crossed my monitor cables....dingus.

I wrote this and recorded it in a shitty, over priced hotel room a really nice police officer gave me a ride to.  Not all cops are bad.  But all La Quinta Inn's are shitholes.

The All-Seeing

"Yawning of the Dreamtigers" is a single, seventy three minute long track from off of the album entitled, 'DREAMTIGERS' released by ambient, no-fi sound experimentalist, LO-TECH.  The instruments used for this recording were an electric guitar (processed by several FX pedals), a dulcimer and the composer's own voice.  The composition was tracked, mixed and mastered in a small motel room somewhere in Nebraska using the very modest set up which the room could accommodate--a Telecaster Custom electric guitar, a Bugera combo amplifier, a dulcimer, an AKG C214 LDC microphone, a Tascam mixer and a Cricket smartphone to which the composition/album was transferred and from which 'DREAMTIGERS' was uploaded.

Difficult to pinpoint stylistically, Animal Holograms are an elusive trio. High intensity, complex songs are balanced out by hypnotic, minimalist pieces often carried by Arabic and African based rhythms.

"Somewhere between the vocal stylings of Marc Bolan and Elliott Smith, Jason Williams’ voice is a hypnotic and understated element of Animal Holograms, a Chicago-based trio with a dreamily loose sound that blends shoegaze and dream-pop. What started as a solo project of Williams’ evolved into a trio consisting of Nick Biscardi and Jesse Askren. Now, Animal Holograms have their debut full-length - í sólina – slated for a May release. Judging by already-released tracks like ”lengi nætur”, listeners could be in for something special.

Starting with a progression that resembles both spacious post-rock and spaghetti-western nonchalance, ”lengi nætur” immediately shows Animal Holograms’ knack for atmosphere. Williams’ ghostly croon creeps in over the passive percussion and murmuring guitars, while an organ emerges as a bridge to a successfully clanky hook that is capped off by an elongated guitar solo. Much of the lyrics throughout the track are obscured somewhat by the gently involved production, which surely takes a cue from shoegaze. The actual instrumentation is more in the vein of post-punk and alternative, with a touch of glam-rock’s moodier bits. ”lengi nætur” is a great entry for listeners, as are tracks like ”halló dökk mín”."
