Assassination Classroom Plot

A strange new teacher is introduced to Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High School. The teacher is a round-headed, tentacled octopoid creature capable of moving at speeds of up to Mach 20 and whose color changes depending on his mood. Prior to introducing himself to his new class, he managed to carve out a large chunk of the moon to become a permanent crescent moon. In a year, he plots to destroy the earth but decides to teach a junior high school class in the meantime for an unknown reason. With this strange creature having effectively taken over the world, the government reluctantly complies with his request on the condition that he does not harm his students. Affectionately, the students of Class E call him Korosensei, which is a pun on the term korosenai, (殺せない lit. unkillable or can't be killed) and sensei, (先生). These same students greet him every day with assassination attempts in their journey to save the world by eventually murdering their own teacher, and to earn 10 billion yen from the government.

Main Characters

Korosensei
Class 3-E's giant yellow octopus-looking homeroom teacher and the one who destroyed 70 percent of the moon. Korosensei is a near invincible creature with a maximum speed of Mach 20. Despite the fact that he plans to blow up the earth in March of next year, he's still undoubtedly an incredible teacher who cares very much for his students.

Nagisa Shiota
The smallest boy in Class 3-E who possesses an androgynous appearance. Nagisa has light blue hair pulled up into pigtails and ranked 5th best in marksmanship on the boys' side. He's the main perspective character and keeps track of his homeroom teacher's weaknesses in a small notebook. Despite his lack of notable physical capabilities, Nagisa possesses a natural talent for assassination.

Karma Akabane
A close friend of Nagisa and a major trickster. Karma is an intelligent boy and the top student of Class 3-E as well as one of the top students overall in Kunugigaoka. Unlike the majority of Class E, who were put in there for low grades, Karma was put in there for violence. He's ranked third for marksmanship on the boys' side and out of all his classmates, he's the most enthusiastic about killing his teacher.

Kaede Kayano
Another close friend of Nagisa and the smallest female in Class E. She's a cheerful and friendly girl with a love for sweets and poses unique cat ears-style pigtails. Kayano normally acts as a logistical support and stays within the background, much like Nagisa. Despite that, if she gets determined to do something, she carries through. She is the one who gave Korosensei his name.

Tadaomi Karasuma
An agent from the Japan's Ministry of Defense and Class 3-E's P.E. teacher. Karasuma is a stern yet kind man who was sent to Class 3-E to monitor Korosensei. He possesses super-human abilities and is one of, if not the strongest, human adults to appear in the series. Like Korosensei, he also cares very much for the students in Class E.

Irina Jelavić
A honey trap infiltration assassin and Class 3-E's English teacher. Originally an antagonist who thought little of the students in Class E, Irina now cares for them as if they were her little brothers and sisters. Her main abilities lie in her communication and seduction abilities which have allowed her a track record of eleven kills. She has a crush on Karasuma and is affectionately referred to as "Bitch-sensei" by her students.

Death Note (Japanese: デスノート, Hepburn: Desu Nōto) is a Japanese manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. Before Minoru TanakaThe story follows Light Yagami, a teen genius who stumbles across a mysterious otherworldly notebook: the "Death Note", which belonged to the Shinigami Ryuk, and grants the user the supernatural ability to kill anyone whose name is written in its pages. The series centers around Light's subsequent attempts to use the Death Note to carry out a world-wide massacre of individuals whom he deems morally unworthy of life to change the world into a utopian society without crime, using the alias of a god-like vigilante named "Kira" ("キラ", the Japanese transliteration of the English word: killer) and the subsequent efforts of an elite task-force of law enforcement officers, consisting of members of the Japanese police force, led by L, an enigmatic international detective whose past is shrouded in mystery, to apprehend him and end his reign of terror. In Tokyo, an intelligent yet disaffected high-school student named Light Yagami finds the "Death Note", a mysterious black notebook which can kill anyone as long as the user knows both the target's name and face. After verifying that the notebook works and initially being terrified of its god-like abilities, Light begins to consider the possibilities of the Death Note's abilities and sets out to create a utopian world without crime, killing numerous high-profile Japanese criminals, before eventually targeting international criminals and felons around the world. Light Yagami (夜神月, Yagami Raito) is the main protagonist of the Death Note series. After discovering the Death Note, he decides to use it to rid the world of criminals. His killings are eventually labelled by people of Japan as the work of "Kira." Light is characterized as hardworking, talented, and a natural genius. Highly perceptive and good with problem solving, Light was a skilled planner and good at mapping out scenarios. Furthermore, Light was very popular among peers and adored by his family members. However, his high intelligence and constant praise from adults laid the foundation for an intense level of hubris which quickly took effect once he obtained the notebook.

Ryuk (リューク, Ryūku) is a Shinigami who indirectly gives Light Yagami a Death Note after becoming bored with the Shinigami Realm. In an effort to amuse himself, he steals a second Death Note and drops it into the Human World for someone to find. This Death Note is discovered by Light, who uses it in an attempt to cleanse the world of evil and injustice, satisfying Ryuk's need for entertainment.

L (エル, Eru) is a world-renowned detective who takes on the challenge of catching the mass murderer known as Kira. In his investigation, L becomes suspicious of Light Yagami and makes it his goal to prove that Light is Kira.
