“Écoute” is a love letter to sound itself a space where the voice withdraws to let the music breathe. This track is a quiet, reverent tribute to the musicians behind the album 1994. Featuring the legendary saxophonist Agogo, the textured bass of Midi14, and the velvet organ of TT Williams, Anissa Boualem lets them take the lead. She whispers only three poetic lines across the entire piece, punctuated by the word “écoute” a call to truly listen, not just hear. This is not a song. It’s a ceremony.

i disappear. is a dark 140 BPM acid cut where sound folds into silence. Lyrics whisper about fading between echoes, strobe lights freezing time, and the descent into a space with no drop. Industrial textures meet minimal bass, leaving only traces, like ghosts inside delay.

This song, in case you're not familiar, was written by Medeski, Martin, and Wood with guitarist John Scofield, and performed by them on an album eponymously named A Go Go. Josh has always been a huge fan of both MMW and J.S., and has always wanted to play more of their music, as he used to cover a couple of their songs in one of his main old bands. 

  Josh laid down the bass and after going back an forth a couple of times with Ken and his thrilling drums, they established the rhythm section. Soon after, Josh added his jazzy guitar, as well. We needed someone to play John Medeski's part, too, of course. So, we asked JJ if he'd do the honors, which he did in grand fashion. He also added some triangle hits you can listen for, that add a little bit more pizzaz to the whole thing. 

  Once it was all laid down, we needed a good mix, and no one is gooder than Stephen, so we asked him to mix it for us, which he did in his always pro manner. 

  This was a lot of fun to record, and we hope that comes through. This is a stripped down Eclectic Collective collab, where most of what we're all doing is improv. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.

The image is interesting. Taken in 1985, I would have been 5 years old. That water doesn't exist there anymore. I have my feet in Djouce mini reservoir. In August 1986, Hurricane Charlie caused it to burst it's banks and it emptied into the river Dargle and caused some fairly bad flooding in our home town of Bray, Co. Wicklow. Djouce Lake is now a dry lake 🔆

Shout out to the masters. Radiohead - The Tourist locked in the 9/8 mode with a few loops before writing the piano line. Love the way they venture different timings. I'm not sure this song is straight 9/8 though. I think they throw in a 12/8 and or a 3/4 at some point in the sections.
Truly the best band of all time in my world. I'm praying hard we get at least one more album 😆🧬🎶

The idea of the title is, let's move out of the metaphorical hell we all see people creating around us and get grounded! ❤️
