A two-part album project, ‘Duality’ combines these two separate musical threads for the first time. ‘Duality’ pt. 1 explores Bayer’s passion for downtempo and indie-pop, while ‘Duality’ pt. 2 takes on his forward-thinking trance and progressive sound.


Crafted over three years, Bayer is joined by an eclectic cast of collaborators old and new. Drawing on electronic pop, indie songwriting and modern classical, ‘Duality pt. 1’ opens with ‘No Silence’ featuring songwriting from cult Icelandic band Vök.


One of many LGBTQ+ collaborators across the project, Danish singer-songwriter Asbjørn brings his technicolour style to two twisted pop masterpieces in the brilliant ‘American Boy’ and the dramatic, string-laded epic ‘Equal’ - which closes 'Duality pt. 1’.


Leading up to it is ‘Under Pressure’ with Anjunadeep’s rising star OLAN and ‘Matriarch’ with new talents Red Dragons, while ‘4/15/10 11:15AM - Volcano’ and ‘Thank You For Being With Us’ provide moments of instrumental reflection, reminiscent of Andrew’s breakthrough 2013 LP ‘If It Were You, We’d Never Leave’.

Andrew Bayer releases the third single taken from his upcoming double album ‘Duality’ on Anjunabeats, ‘Chaos’ with Run Rivers.

Taken from the more downtempo ‘‘Duality’ Part 1, ‘Chaos’ is the epitome of Andrew Bayer’s leftfield experimental side. Featuring UK singer-songwriter Run Rivers, who has previously worked with DJ Shadow and Tinlicker, ‘Chaos’ is a nod to Andrew Bayer’s musical roots with a healthy injection of Talking Heads-esque energy.

Two musical threads weave through the collected works of Andrew Bayer. One thread gave us the downtempo masterclass of 2013’s ‘If It Were You We’d Never Leave’ and the brilliant 'In My Last Life' LP. The other thread produced arena-sized anthems like 2014’s ‘Once Lydian’, his epic 'Super Human' with Asbjørn, and the club remix project 'In My Next Life'.

‘Duality’ brings these two creative threads together under one album for the first time since his debut album 'It's Artificial'.

An established figure in the world of progressive house and trance, our Anjunafamily will remember Serbian producer Marko Cubric, aka Vintage & Morelli, from 2015’s ‘Contrasts’. A standout moment from Anjunabeats Volume 12, ‘Contrasts’ became a classic addition to our catalogue, and received a spin by Above & Beyond in their four-hour Group Therapy 400 livestream back in September 2020.

Seven years later and Marko is back, with ‘Crossroads / Terra Nuova’ - the latter track being a collaboration with label debutant Anthony Nikita.

Work on ‘Terra Nuova’ began in 2019, as Marko and Anthony explain: "We were driving around NYC in Anthony's car as he played the demo he was working on. I heard the vocal riff and the beautiful piano chords and instantly got an idea of what the track should sound like… sadly, I had to put the track on the backburner as I was working on my third artist album and got busy with other projects. Fast forward two years: I sat down, wrote the track, and ‘Voila’, we got Terra Nuova, which is this gorgeous, emotional dancefloor killer.” - Marko

Legendary UK house producer Shadow Child drops his remix of Jono Grant and Darren Tate’s JODA project.

Shadow Child, aka Dave Spoon, is one of the UK’s most influential producers, with releases on Defected, Dirtybird, Shall Not Fade, Moda Black and Hot Creations. He’s worked with the likes of Disclosure, Mary J Blige and Hot Since 82, remixed tracks for Xpansions, The Kite String Tangle, and Little Boots, and reworked Jody Wisternoff’s ‘Something Real’ from ‘Nightwhisper’, Jody’s 2020 studio album on Anjunadeep. His remix of JODA’s ‘Air’ showcases his unparalleled production abilities once again, giving the track an ethereal, break-filled twist.

It’s been a big year for Jono Grant and Darren Tate, aka JODA. Grant is one-third of Above & Beyond who, throughout a two-decade career, have established themselves as one of the biggest electronic groups in the world. In 2019, Above & Beyond received an offer to score an environmental documentary, ‘The Last Glaciers’. He enlisted classically trained musician, songwriter, producer, hitmaker and close friend Darren Tate, and the duo got stuck into composing together.

It became a dream project all around – not least because it sparked further ideas. JODA was born. Working in Tate’s studio in suburban north London, and A&B’s south London HQ, the pair were in a creative bubble during the early days of the pandemic. And the partnership proved fruitful. Their self-titled album ‘JODA’, celebrating the musical influences that Jono and Darren grew up with, was released on Anjunabeats in August 2022 – to a rapturous reception from the Anjunafamily and beyond.

Bluestone and BT met Caitlin Charters on Clubhouse, the voice-based app that went viral during lockdown. It’s hard to guess this is Charters’ first release – her textured voice is perfectly suited to the soaring melodies of ‘Run’. The track got its first outing on Above & Beyond's Anjunabeats Volume 16 compilation, released in July 2022.

Anjunabeats is proud to present ‘Duality’, the stunning new double album from Andrew Bayer.

Enigma, polymath, visionary, DJ, producer, musician, artist: Andrew Bayer has been a cornerstone of Anjuna for over a decade. He's been responsible for the most experimental and ambitious artist albums on Anjunabeats. His 2011 debut ‘It’s Artificial’ merged glitch-hop, electronica and prog house, while on 2013’s ‘If It Were You, We’d Never Leave’ he pushed the envelope further with a critically-acclaimed journey of electronica and sunny, instrumental hip-hop. 2018's ‘In My Last Life’ wove the emotive songwriting of Ane Brun and Alison May into a modern alt-pop masterpiece.

A two-part album project, ‘Duality pt. 1' explores Bayer’s passion for downtempo and indie-pop, while ‘Duality’ pt. 2 takes on his forward-thinking trance and progressive sound. ‘Duality pt. 1' was released on August 12 via Anjunabeats. Met with acclaim from fans and supported by Sirius XM's Diplo and Liquid Todd, BBC Radio 1's Annie Nightingale and KCRW's Jason Bentley, it featured collaborations with OLAN, Run Rivers, Asbjørn, MOR, Dave Thomas Junior and more.

On ‘Duality pt. 2’, Andrew takes the energy and BPM up a gear with ten tracks of cutting-edge club sounds - avant-garde sensibilities, aimed straight at the dancefloor. Over the past few months, Andrew has taken 'Duality pt. 2' around the world, performing at Anjunabeats star-studded takeover of New York City's Brooklyn Mirage; Above & Beyond's Group Therapy Weekender festivals at The Gorge and Dockyards London; and most recently, Group Therapy 500 at Banc of California Stadium, Los Angeles.

'Duality pt. 2' kicks off with 'Midnight', featuring vocals from long-term friend and collaborator Alison May and a go-to club smash in Above & Beyond's recent DJ sets. Red Dragons add their heavenly tones on the hypnotic ‘DNA’, before Bayer’s take on bass-lead electro with ‘Greater Chances’ (featuring OLAN).

A favourite from recent DJ sets and included on Anjunabeats Volume 16, ‘On Tape’ takes things into epic peak-time progressive trance territory. ‘I Would’ (with Alison May and Grandfather Machine) offers a beautiful downtempo moment, before ‘Break The Rules’ (with Kaleena Zanders) offers an uplifting take on self-love, personal truth and the isolation of queer identity.

Other highlights include ‘What Is Real’ (with Vök), the stunning instrumental synth crescendos of ‘If You Loop It, They Will Come’, and closing track ‘Pulse’ (with OLAN).
