Andrew Bayer releases double A-side 'What Is Real (with Vök) / If You Loop It, They Will Come', lifted from part two of his double album 'Duality'.

A two-part album project, ‘Duality’ began as a homage to Andrew's debut album, 'It's Artificial'. Crafted over three years, ‘Duality pt. 1' explores Bayer’s passion for downtempo and indie-pop, while ‘Duality pt. 2' takes on his forward-thinking trance and progressive sound.

‘Duality pt. 1' was released on August 12 via Anjunabeats. Met with acclaim from fans and supported by Sirius XM's Diplo and Liquid Todd, it featured collaborations with OLAN, Run Rivers, Asbjørn, MOR, Dave Thomas Junior and more.

On ‘Duality pt. 2’, Andrew takes the energy and BPM up a gear with ten tracks of cutting-edge club sounds - avant-garde sensibilities, aimed straight at the dancefloor.

"'What Is Real' and 'If You Loop It, They Will Come' highlight an important pairing of my club sound. 'What Is Real' tells the story of struggling with treating depression, and the side effects it brings. 'If You Loop It, They Will Come' is the response to being stuck in the eternal loop of knowing what is real and what isn’t. It snaps us back into a focused reality with a chorus of analog synths from the 70’s and 80’s, with a faint vocal sample repeating “it’s gonna be the same”. Accepting the fact that I always have and always will struggle with mental health issues was a big part of the acceptance I had to face while working on 'Duality'. It is part of my story, and part of many stories shared in our community." - Andrew Bayer

Introducing ‘Duality’, the new double album from Andrew Bayer. 

Two musical threads weave through the collected works of Andrew Bayer. One thread gave us the downtempo masterclass of 2013’s ‘If It Were You We’d Never Leave’ and the brilliant 'In My Last Life' LP. The other thread produced arena-sized anthems like 2014’s ‘Once Lydian’, his epic 'Super Human' with Asbjørn and the club remix project 'In My Next Life'. 

From the introspective to the explosive, these records are our community’s shared soundtrack: we’ve all got a favourite Andrew Bayer record. But they have come in so many forms and styles.

It leaves us asking the question, who exactly is Andrew Bayer? It’s a question he’s asked himself.

“Since day one, I have always struggled with how to present myself. I love making these experimental home listening albums of electronica and indie sounds, but I also love DJing and making trance bangers. On my last album I had to remix the album in full after it was released to make the worlds fit. Enigma, polymath, visionary, DJ, producer, musician, artist: Andrew Bayer has been a cornerstone of Anjuna for over a decade. He's been responsible for the most experimental and ambitious artist albums on Anjunabeats. His 2011 debut ‘It’s Artificial’ merged glitch-hop, electronica and prog house, while on 2013’s ‘If It Were You, We’d Never Leave’ he pushed the envelope further with a critically-acclaimed journey of electronica and sunny, instrumental hip-hop. 2018's ‘In My Last Life’ wove the emotive songwriting of Ane Brun and Alison May into a modern alt-pop masterpiece.


In amongst this, Andrew has knocked out countless cutting-edge trance bangers to power his famed DJ sets – 'Super Human' (with Asbjørn), 'Magitek', 'Once Lydian', 'The District'... the list goes on. Respected as a true visionary and a headline talent within the trance world, as well as one of its only openly proud and vocal LGBTQ+ acts, his DJ sound has energised Ultra Music Festival, Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy (including a Madison Square Garden show), ASOT, Creamfields and clubs across the world.


A two-part album project, ‘Duality’ combines these two separate musical threads for the first time. ‘Duality’ pt. 1 explores Bayer’s passion for downtempo and indie-pop, while ‘Duality’ pt. 2 takes on his forward-thinking trance and progressive sound.


Crafted over three years, Bayer is joined by an eclectic cast of collaborators old and new. Drawing on electronic pop, indie songwriting and modern classical, ‘Duality pt. 1’ opens with ‘No Silence’ featuring songwriting from cult Icelandic band Vök.


One of many LGBTQ+ collaborators across the project, Danish singer-songwriter Asbjørn brings his technicolour style to two twisted pop masterpieces in the brilliant ‘American Boy’ and the dramatic, string-laded epic ‘Equal’ - which closes 'Duality pt. 1’.


Leading up to it is ‘Under Pressure’ with Anjunadeep’s rising star OLAN and ‘Matriarch’ with new talents Red Dragons, while ‘4/15/10 11:15AM - Volcano’ and ‘Thank You For Being With Us’ provide moments of instrumental reflection, reminiscent of Andrew’s breakthrough 2013 LP ‘If It Were You, We’d Never Leave’.
