The phrase In Search of Sunrise carries a deep resonance throughout the dance music community, and ever since its debut outing 25 years ago, in 1999, its purpose has been to emotionally inspire. Spearheaded by Tiesto for the first seven editions, and continued by Richard Durand from 8 through 13, the honor was bestowed upon Markus Schulz to be the primary curator of the series from the 14th volume onwards.

In September 2024, In Search of Sunrise not only celebrated its 25th anniversary, but also reached its milestone 20th edition. The most expansive volume in the series to date, featuring no less than six DJ mixes; by Markus, Solarstone, Airscape, Super8 & Tab, York and ZOYA.

To mark the occasion, Markus wanted to weave something a little extra for company as part of the celebrations, by going through the entire history of the series and highlighting some of the significant pieces that have shaped the various generations of the series.

A State of Trance 2025 | Rotterdam, NL | 22.02.2025

It's a special period for dance music fans and indeed the industry as a whole, as one of the biggest weeks in the calendar has arrived; with thousands of clubbers and industry members descending upon Markus Schulz's home city of Miami, for a host of major parties. Global DJ Broadcast was born initially as a one-off special for Miami Music Week, so it has always carried an extra resonance. For that reason, Markus heads to South Beach to curate a two hour mix of the biggest and important tunes emanating from the various parties, club and festival events. 

The show features world premieres of two forthcoming Markus singles - You Belong with Tim Clark and Linney (available from Friday April 18) and Get You Higher with Pavlo Vicci (available from Friday April 4); as well as Daxson's latest Transmission event theme, The Temple of Time (available from Friday April 11). 

The revival of Loops & Tings by Markus, Ferry Corsten and Omnia forms part of Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance 2025 mix compilation, with the full single available to support from Friday March 28. And if you are in Miami, you are welcome to check out Markus' signature open to close solo set performance for Miami Music Week, taking place at MAD Club in Wynwood on Saturday March 29.

For the spring season, the aspect of vocal dance is laid into focus; reflected through the bond of music and words, where the vocalist is as important as the artist. Titled In Bloom to reflect the illumination of color as flowers blossom, the 2025 edition marks the ninth outing of this particular concept, and anticipation for its release grows with every passing year.

In Bloom is heavily influenced by pieces which have been appraised by Global DJ Broadcast listeners across the last 12 months, along with premieres to shape the remainder of 2025; and features a cast list of lyricists the community holds dear.

A deeply-considered reflection of vocal favorites, straddling the lines of trance, progressive and melodic techno, In Bloom 2025 is dedicated to dance music's wide community.

Born and bred in London, Anjunabeats started life as a university project in the year 2000. Today, Anjunabeats is one of the world’s best-loved dance labels. Over 700 releases spanning two decades wear the iconic Anjuna ‘A’. 

To celebrate, they’ve opened the vault for a handpicked group of artists from the label’s 20-year history. Each artist will sift through thousands of hours of music to create a definitive, mix of their all-time favourite Anjunabeats releases. 

On 7 January, Genix delivers the fifteenth mix in the series.

"Hailing from the Midlands, Genix has been in our orbit since 2010. He's a chap who appreciates an Ibiza sunset (perhaps with a cocktail in hand) as much as we do, and, like many of the artists featured in this series, has been a student of trance music for many, many years.

Damo released music on several other U.K. labels before joining our family with a remix of 7 SKIES ‘Caffeine’. He got our attention with his flair for layered bass arrangements, which he showcased on a 2011 collaboration release with Mike Koglin (‘Helion’ and ‘Dyno’).

His take on ‘Home’ cemented his place as a label regular, and he has since delivered a continuous stream of wonderful, melodic club instrumentals like ‘Durban’, ‘Lima’ and ‘Run’ - the latter brings back fond memories of one particular Above & Beyond show at Ultra Miami.

Damo pushes himself. Whether he's in the studio, breaking world records or DJing at Everest Base Camp, this is an artist who always puts the work in. Of late, he's been channelling Randy Katana and Gat Decor, producing bass-heavy hitters like ‘Death Valley’ and ‘Kill Switch’. Where will Genix go next? We can't wait to find out." - Above & Beyond

"I fondly remember the early days of Anjunabeats. In my early 20’s I used to work in a record shop and would often get excited by the new white labels that came in. It was a time when I was really finding my feet as a music producer & DJ. I would often play the brand new Anjuna tracks I had on vinyl in my DJ sets and hear these tracks in clubs like Passion & Gatecrasher. I really fell in love with Anjunabeats around this time, and this will explain a little why I chose a lot of tracks from this era.
