“Ethereal” (Billboard) electronic producer Ben Böhmer releases his sophomore album Begin Again via Anjunadeep, along with single “Home” ft. folk duo JONAH. Böhmer recently won Best Live [Streamed] Act Award at the AIMs in what has been arguably the most competitive year for live streamed performances, beating out artists including Arlo Parks and beabadoobee. This year, Ben has also been named Spotify’s #1 fastest growing electronic artist with over 60 million streams. Vogue UA called Ben “the new star of the world electronic scene” while he has garnered support from the likes of Pete Tong at BBC Radio 1 and Anna Lunoe at DanceXL Radio on Apple Music 1.
The album release follows singles “Beyond Beliefs,” “Escalate” ft. JONAH, “Erase” ft. lau.ra and “A Matter of Time.” On “Home,” Böhmer says it’s about “having a deep connection to the one you love the most, your soulmate. No matter where in the world you are, they still feel close to you through an unwavering bond. Nothing could ever change that.”

Böhmer recently announced his European album tour, selling out a string of shows within 24 hours and adding a second show in his hometown of Berlin to go with flagship shows at the iconic Roundhouse London and Melkweg Amsterdam. He has also partnered with Amazon Music for a special livestream broadcast from the prestigious König Galerie in Berlin on 9/26. Featuring all new live production designed by the team behind James Blake and Tale Of Us live shows, the set will be broadcast via Böhmer’s YouTube channel.

Begin Again was inspired and written while Böhmer and his wife were separated on opposite sides of the globe for nine months due to the global travel ban. The album sees him perfectly portray the longing and uncertainty he and many of us experienced during this time.

The direction was unclear back then – and, truth be told, it still is – yet I’ve decided to share with you my first attempts at making music. It felt like the right moment to do so – a kind of eulogy for a different Marco, a version of myself from another era who no longer exists. A tribute to his work and dedication to the craft; someone who found a sense of comfort in making music for himself. Despite countless failed attempts, he continued along the path.

Today’s Marco is quite different – someone who lingers more in the past. But he’s also on the verge of major life changes, positive ones. So releasing this collection of early tracks felt necessary, like a final nod to that past self – to the one who kept going.

As the title suggests, this is a collection of early tracks I created around 15 to 20 years ago. You can hear the experimentation, the various trials – some acceptable, some less so – and a few interesting ideas beginning to take shape. However, everything remained in a very embryonic and amateurish stage.

The original project files are now long lost, so I’ve done my best to remaster the surviving exports – the only remnants of these tracks.

Among them is the very first, original version of the recently released "smart box" (check out my album "Essence Through Approximation" on Evel Records). It dates back to a short but significant period when I was working with Fruity Loops, just before I switched to Ableton – and never looked back.

I hope you enjoy listening, and please be kind to the 15–20-year-old version of me! 😄

Durch meinen Klavierlehrer oder auch Jazz-Guru wurde ich schnell in die Welt des Improvisierens eingeführt. Das hilft ungemein, auf neue Melodien zu stoßen. Since launching in early 2016, the Explorations series returns for its fourth outing. Having previously welcomed artists such as Theo Kottis, Tontario, Modd and Luttrell to the label, ‘Anjunadeep Explorations 04’ introduces more new faces to the family.

Previously one-half of production duo Journeyman, Dom Furlonge makes his debut outing under his new Antic alias with EP opener ‘And I Pray’. Dom showcases his own vocals and distinctive production flair on this quirky club cut.

Our second track brings together the Bath-based duo Kotu and Munich’s Sam Goku on ‘Ascension’, blending a subtle rolling bassline with soaring strings and sparse piano to wonderful effect. A much sought after ID from recent Anjunadeep Editions from James Grant and Dom Donnelly.

Next up is emerging German talent Ben Böhmer with ‘Flug & Fall’. Ben fuses organic elements, vocal chanting and warm melodic grooves in this uplifting number.

Closing the EP, Melbourne’s GMJ and Matter debut with throwback progressive gem ‘Earthless’.
