Energy 52’s Cafe Del Mar probably needs little introduction - first appearing in 1993 and establishing itself as one of the key tracks in European dance music culture. 

The track was voted number 1 in Mixmag’s 100 best tracks of all time, as well as occupying the same spot in a Radio 1 poll of Top 20 Dance Tracks of Last 20 Years. 

Honouring the spirit of the track, Push Communications unveil a remix project updating this classic into a 2016 context, via a killer array of contemporary talent. 

First up, Tim Engelhardt casts his spell over the original, providing an epic 10 minute journey that evokes sunset at Ibiza’s Cafe Del Mar through lush evolving sounds and textures. 

Marcel Janowsky’s remix ups the energy levels with a skippy, vibrant and dubby mix that works the source material in fresh new shapes. 

Dale Middleton’s mix is another epic affair, stretching out and giving room for the fully balearic, feet-in-the-sand Ibiza vibe. 

Düsseldorf-based Mario Da Ragnio goes for a more driving take with his rework, pushing things into a darker formation before allowing the famous arpeggiated melody to shine through.

Serge Landar is back on Forescape Digital with another two progressive tunes. Ruined World starts off with a solid pattern of tribal percussions and serious bass layer kicks in very nicely, getting us into the mysterious atmosphere almost straight away as atmospheric lush pads and perfectly executed plucked synths work together really nice, the breakdown part starts with a little air-piano section and then it goes straight into the climax part that won't let you down for sure. The Gloom kicks in with the very well EQ'd metallized percussive stabs and another injection of melancholic melodies adds up quickly getting us into the groove, the main melody of the tune starts playing from the breakdown part and works really well again here, brilliant tunes from Sergey in his trademark deep progressive what we call trance style!

The compilation is inspired by our weekly radio show of the same name, which is co-hosted by Jacob and Tom, as well as Johan Vilborg, Jayeson Andel, Vintage & Morelli, & Terry Da Libra. Reaching international listeners on Proton Radio, Digitally Imported, and other radio platforms, Silk Music Showcase recently reached its 400th episode (http://www.silkmusicshowcase.com) and now often ranks amongst the Top 100 Music Podcasts in the USA on iTunes.

Carefully selected to represent the sound of our radio show (and, more generally, our label), the songs included in the compilation range from the more pensive and melancholic shades of progressive to the more club-oriented, peak-hour material we tend to play at the end of our radio show mixes and live sets. Many of the artists are seasoned veterans of the SMS compilation series; there are also numerous first-time contributors to this year's compilation, many of whom have asserted themselves as leading talents in trance & progressive in just the past year.
